The original Kane & Lynch had a great style and premise, but technical glitches and an overall failure to deliver kept the game from reaching its potential. It was also the cause for the infamous firing of a GameSpot editor after he gave the game a bad, and well deserved, review.
Now with Kane & Lynch 2, officially titled “Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days”, developer IO Interactive sets to fix the issues this time. Sadly, for the most part, they fail. Kane & Lynch 2 features the same, great and gritty style of the original game, and the gameplay, especially the shooting part, is excellent. However, you won’t have a lot of gameplay to do, as the game can be completed in three hours. Yes, 3 measly hours.
On top of that, there is multiplayer of course, but even that is limited. For one, there’s only six maps and they’re pretty much alike, and a limited amount of modes as well — even though those that are available are quite fun to play. However, technical issues such as frame rate drops and especially lag are evident throughout the multiplayer portion.
The visuals and audio are decent — while the graphics haven’t improved much since last time, the style is expressed even further, and manages to look like a gritty, Hong Kong action thriller. The gun sounds and voice acting are well done. Kane & Lynch 2 is by no means a bad game, but what’s there isn’t enough to warrant a $60 purchase. The multiplayer, which should have compensated for the 3-hour single player campaign, doesn’t do so and is lacking itself.
The Good:
Great visual style
Good audio and voice acting
Multiplayer feels fresh (albeit limited)
The Bad:
3 hour single player campaign
Frame rate and lag issues
Limited multiplayer
Overall score: 5/10
Microsoft has announced Age of Empires Online, a cartoon-like version of Age of Empires, much like EA and DICE did with Battlefield Heroes. The game will use the “freemium” model, where basic gameplay is free, while extra features will cost money.

Yep, the rumors are true: after APB’s huge failure, developer Realtime Worlds has filed for “administration” in the UK, which is the same as Chapter 11 bankruptcy. All 200 employees’ jobs are in jeopardy, and the developer has brought in outside help to sell off its assets. Realtime Worlds spent years and over $50 million making APB, which is a surprise, considering how shallow the game was (besides the customization features).

One of the biggest criticisms of Torchlight was that it didn’t have multiplayer, and Torchlight 2 is certainly going to include that, judging from the very first trailer of the game, which is slated for a 2011 release.

Finally, after years of wait, players will be able to play 11 vs 11 online, in what will most likely be the biggest uncoordinated pile of soccer ever. But having 11 players also means that two unfortunate players will have to play as goalies. FIFA 11 is coming next month across all platforms.
Is there anything that isn’t in Gran Turismo 5? They’ve already got 800 cars, dozens of tracks, a rally mode, NASCAR racing, and now, Karting. Yep, Karting, as you can see above. If this isn’t the most comprehensive racing game ever made, we dunno what is.
