Minecraft sells 500,000 copies

The indie hit Minecraft, a rude, 3D puzzle/world building game, has surpassed 500,000 copies in sales, netting the single developer, Swedish Markus Perrson, some cool $5 million. But that’s not the surprising fact, the surprising fact is that the game is still in Alpha, and has sold that many copies, in addition to being played by some 1.6 million players — 500k of which have paid for the game. Perrson has now started a real game studio with all that money, and has hired several developers to work with him.
