EA: $99 Wii Will Save Nintendo’s Console
The Nintendo Wii has long been known to be one of the fastest selling consoles on the market thanks to its innovative controls that allow anyone to pick up and play. However, now that both Microsoft and Sony have released the Xbox 360 Kinect and PlayStation Move, respectively, the Wii has seen its sales drop dramatically. In order to remedy this, EA CEO John Riccitiello has an idea for Nintendo.
According to him, Nintendo should drop the price tag of their console to $99 at which point sales will surge and the Wii will once again be on top. I can’t say I disagree with him considering $99 is cheap enough for just about everyone to buy – especially when compared to the high price tags of the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Of course, this is just a suggestion and by no means implies that Nintendo plans to do it. Even if they should.
