Dead Space 2 has been received as a great sequel to the original (read our Dead Space 2 review), and EA promotion has gotten the game to the top of the sales charts in the UK.
Compared to the original Dead Space, the sequel is doing a lot better — the original debuted at a number 6 spot.
Here’s the full top ten for the week ending January 29:
According to Crytek, who acquired TimeSplitters developer Free Radical and turned it into Crytek UK, there is a possibility of continuing Free Radical’s TimeSplitters franchise, but only after Crysis 2 ships. Crytek bought the developer in 2009 and since then has used the crew in UK to create the multiplayer component of Crysis 2. So far, three TimeSplitters games have been released, the original in 2000, a sequel in 2002 and the third game in 2005.
There’s a lot of talk about cloud services these days, or rather, these last few years, where instead of saving things locally on your harddrive, you save them in the cloud where you can access them from anywhere. Now a new report suggests that Sony’s upcoming PS3 firmware will offer cloud support for game saves. This feature has been rumored for the PS3 for a while, as Sony trademarked “PS Cloud” a few years ago. The rumored cloud service would only be available for those with a PlayStation Plus subscription.
With the announcement of the Sony NGP comes a whole new rivalry between that and the Nintendo 3DS. While some speculate the 3DS will win hands down, the NGP is definitely a device to keep an eye on due to its top notch hardware. Of course, until both of them are on the market for some time we won’t actually know how they will stand the test of time.
Regardless, some users over at DeviantArt have put together their very own Zelda themed Nintendo 3DS bundle which you can see above. While this of course isn’t official, it definitely gives us something to look forward to as Zelda rules and so will the Nintendo 3DS.
What kind of Nintendo 3DS bundles would you like to see?

Just the other day Sony came forth to officially announce their second generation portable console codenamed the NGP but commonly referred to as the PSP 2. This device features things like a quad-core 2GHz processor, front and rear touch panels and cameras, 3G, WiFi, accelerometers, gyroscopes and much more. A you can tell, this is no underpowered device which has led many to believe that it will cost quite the premium when it hits store shelves (hopefully by the end of the year).
Regardless of the pricing, if you missed the official unveil and want to check it out, Sony has just released it in video form in all of its 1080p glory. Check it out above and let us know what you think – Nintendo 3DS or NGP?
Developer Guerrilla has posted a great developer diary video of Killzone 3, where they talk in detail about the game’s improved shooting mechanics, new melee kills, and a lot more. Best of all, it packs lots and lots of hectic gameplay footage which makes Killzone 2 look outright dated.
A demo of Killzone 3 will be released shortly on PlayStation Network, while the full game hits the store shelves in under a month: February 22.
Sony’s new handheld console, still codenamed NGP, has a powerful quad core ARM processor and quad core graphics processor, which makes it the most powerful portable device on the planet. How powerful? Check out the video above of the NGP version of Uncharted. It sure as hell is looking good to us!
When I was a bit younger one of the games I remember quite well for one reason or another is Abe’s Oddysee. The gameplay may not have been groundbreaking but the subtle quirks included by the game developers here and there are what had me coming back for more. If you’re like me and enjoy the game, you too will b excited to hear that the game studio Just Add Water will be picking up the title for a full HD remake.
News comes to us from the creator of the franchise, Lorne Lanning, where he says:
“Abe HD is going into production – it’s basically Abe’s Oddysee being redone in a 3D physics engine as a 2D side-scrolling platformer. So the way Just Add Water wants to approach it, we thought was very smart; they are not trying to reinvent any wheels. It’s like, ‘Can we make that experience in a new engine, with new tech, in the old way?”
Sounds pretty damn sweet to me. No word on a release date or price point but we’ll keep you posted.
When it comes to the video game world Pokemon is one of the most recognizable brands no matter who you ask. While the franchise has already seen titles get released for consoles like the Nintendo DS and Wii things won’t be stopping there. In fact, during a recent earnings call Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, went on record as saying the following:
“For Pokémon, we are also proceeding ahead with various projects on Wii and Nintendo 3DS. We will announce them later at the appropriate timing.”
So, while this announcement doesn’t give us many details as to what exactly these Pokemon games will be like it confirms the fact that the franchise will in fact be making the jump to the Nintendo 3DS which is set to hit North American store shelves on March 27th of this year.
Rovio’s Angry Birds has taken the mobile world by storm seated towards the top of the charts in the App Store and Android Market for some time. If you’ve been paying attention you may know that Rovio is looking to team up with the guys behind 20th Century Fox’s Rio to put out Angry Birds Rio. Well, at the time the game was made known not much was talked about in terms of gameplay
Luckily, Rovio has come forth today to remedy that by saying the basic premise of the game will fall in line with the movie’s plot. Said plot consists of some bird characters going to Rio de Janeiro and get captured by some animal smugglers. Luckily, the Angry Birds are here to help where they will help free these animals in 45 brand new levels. Unfortunately, there won’t be any pigs or eggs this time around so those looking for a stereotypical experience better look elsewhere.
