Every once in a while, EA sends a demo reel to its marketing departments in order to let everyone in on what EA is working on and what to expect in the future.

One such demo reel was recently shipped around EA’s studios, and it showcased Battlefield 3, Need for Speed, Star Wars: Star Wars: The Old Republic and even Bulletstorm, according to a NeoGAF member who works at EA. Read the forum post at NeoGAF (via BF3Blog).

Nintendo has revealed a few more 3DS specs at its Nintendo World event, most noticeably, the battery life of its 3D capable console. The 3DS will have 3 to 5 hours of battery life when playing 3DS games. Compared to the regular DS Lite and DS XL, which lasts at least twice as long. However, the 3DS does feature new and far more powerful internal hardware. Not to mention that 3D screen.

Developer Turbine earlier this year took a drastic turn with their MMO Lord Of The Rings Online, turning the paid subscription into a freemium model, where the game is free to play, and are able to buy more content, more levels later on.

This was a risky move, as Turbine would certainly attract more players, but wether they would pay or not was up in the air. Now Turbine has revealed that revenue from the game has trippled since the introduction of the freemium model last September, according to GamaSutra.

There are lots of gadgets and gizmos currently on display at CES in Las Vegas, but one of them stood out for us gamers and Portal fans: the Razer Sixense motion controller for the PC, which was showcased playing Portal 2 at the event.

The Razer Sixense uses a magnetic field to track a two of controllers in a 3D space, meaning it’s just as good as anything you’ll find on the consoles, and best of all, there official suppor tin Portal 2 and other upcoming games.

Razer has announced a new controller product at CES. Called Onza, it’s a new Xbox 360 controller which features back lit buttons, a new d-pad and two extra programmable shoulder buttons.

According to Razer, the Onza is geared towards the hardcore players, and its buttons are more sensitive than regular Xbox 360 controllers. There are two versions of the Onza: the regular, which has all the features listed above, and the Tournament Edition, which includes the ability to adjust button resistance. The Onza will be available for pre-order on January 17, regular one for $40, Tournament Edition for $50.

Who knew that motocross and ATV racing was this popular? THQ has announced that they’ve shipped 10 million units of the motocross racing franchise MX vs. ATV, a game that has been consistently popular with players, especially on the PC, where there’s a an extensive mod community and lots of user generated content.

THQ has also announced that the next MX vs. ATV game will be revealed during the Monster Energy AMA Supercross event in on January 8.

With the original Xbox 360, which was prone to overheating, Nyko’s intercooler was a good buy, but the new Xbox 360 S is a much more refined machine, and no heat issues have yet been reported.

That hasn’t stopped Nyko from making a new intercooler for the new Xbox 360, which they showcased at CES. The new intercooler slots in above the fan opening on the console, and channels more air into it. The new cooler will be available later this year. Price unknown.

World’s largest game retailer, GameStop, has announced Holiday 2010 sales of $3.02 billion — a new record for the company. The sales are counted from November to January 1st. During the same time last year, GameStop sold $2.8 billion worth of videogames, consoles and peripherals, among other things.

Despite the recovering economy, the videogame industry has been doing well, with most retailers, online and offline, reporting an increase in sales.

CES is currently underway in Las Vegas, and lots of game peripherals and gaming rigs are revealed, including something quite new from Razer: a “gaming tablet” called Switchblade.

It’s a 7 inch tablet with a touchscreen and keys which change depending on what game you’re playing. It’s still a concept, but an interesting concept nonetheless. Check out the video above, which showcases the Swtichblade. Albeit the Razer folks sound like they’re reading from a press release.

Torchlight has been around for quite some time generating positive reviews thanks to its emergence on the PC. However, it’s been known for a bit that the smash hit would be making its way to the Xbox 360 in the form of an Xbox Live Arcade title. For those of you highly anticipating this game, you will be happy to hear that a whole slew of different screenshots showing off the game’s unique are style have hit the scene included above and in the below gallery.

For those of you PS3 owners wondering when you’re going to be able to get your hands on Torchlight, don’t hold your breath. There have been no official word of a PS3 release with the game actually being published by Microsoft themselves. Bummer.

However, those of you with an Xbox 360 can expect to see Torchlight drop sometime in March or April. We’ll keep you posted.
