Torchlight was a great, little indie RPG hit and a lot of folks are looking forward to its sequel, including us. But it looks like the wait will have to be extended for about a month, from its original June release date till July, according to Runic CEO Max Schaefer, who spoke to DigitalSpy.

According to Schaefer, the extra time will be spend improving the interface design for the Xbox 360 version of the game. The original Torchlight has sold over 1 million copies to date.

Apple has a whole slew of different products on the market all with their fair share of buzz. Of course, we don’t even need to touch on devices like the iPod or iPhone considering their massive success over the years. A product that has come into our sights, however, is the Apple TV. This device is designed from the ground up to bring consumers streaming video from services like iTunes and Netflix. While this is all fine and dandy the device doesn’t really cater to the gaming crowd in its current iteration.

However, with the recent release of the iOS 4.3 beta has come some new found rumors that suggest the set-top box will be getting some gaming capabilities. Found within the code of the iOS 4.3 beta are references to ATVGames including standings, settings and even a controller. Of course, none of this has been confirmed but considering the Apple TV runs just $99 and the company already has the highly successful App Store, it will be interesting to see how the product fares if gaming is added.

We’ll keep you posted.

Despite being around since 2003 Call of Duty has remained one of the most popular FPS titles of all time. The franchises most recent release Call of Duty: Black Ops is no different selling more than 7 million copies after being on the market for just 24 hours. Well, seeing how the game has been available since November 9th of last year it’s no surprise that Activision and Treyarch have already gotten around to releasing the very first Black Ops DLC map pack dubbed First Strike which includes 4 all new multiplayer maps and a zombies map.

Available on the Xbox 360 since February 1st of this year, PS3 and PC are still waiting to get down on the fun. Just yesterday we told you that the PS3 version of Black Ops would be getting First Strike come March 3rd – but what about the PC version?

Well, Activision has come forth today to say that the PC version will be getting First Strike “later in the quarter”. In other words, First Strike will be out for the PC before April rolls around – stay tuned.

Thanks to the emergence of high powered video game consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers have been able to get their graphics fix without beefing up their PC. However, to PC gamers, there are some distinct advantages they have over console gamers that will never be replaced. One of the major advantages here is the inclusion of dedicated servers.

These dedicated servers allow PC gamers to run their own game modes, modify maps and add a new level of fun not even dreamed of by the original developers. If you’ve been paying attention you may remember all of the fuss that was brought to the tablet after the announcement that Activision’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 would not feature dedicated servers in an effort to curb online cheating.

You’ll probably also know that EA recently came forth to announce Battlefield 3 which, according to the game’s executive producer, will hold preference to the PC bringing dedicated servers along for the ride. In the same interview with Game Informer, Bach has said that the studio will not be developing the game for console platforms and then porting it to the PC but instead the other way around. This will ensure PC gamers the best possible experience.

The entire Call of Duty franchise has been a major success with each release selling quite a few copies and latest release, Call of Duty: Black Ops, is no different. So, what is Activision to do when there is already a ton of hype surrounding a game? Release downloadable content, of course!

The first DLC pack for Black Ops dubbed First Strike is already out on the Xbox 360 and includes 4 brand new multiplayer maps alongside a new map made especially for the game’s zombie mode. Unfortunately for PS3 users the Xbox 360 got a window of exclusivity but Activision has come forth today to announce that the First Strike DLC pack will be coming to the PlayStation Network on March 3rd for $15.

A bit pricey but then again it is Activision so what do you expect?

Just a few short years ago, as you’re sure to know, rhythm based games rulled the airwaves. However, after seeing an influx of different releases (from Guitar Hero, in particular) the market was overwhelmed and the buzz quickly died off – not before the Guitar Hero franchise made it all the way to Guitar Hero 5, that is.

Well, here we are almost 5 year’s after the original Guitar Hero’s November 8th, 2005 release and the hype has died down so much that Activision has announced their plans to completely shutter the franchise and their staff that develops it. This, quite obviously, means that there won’t be any more Guitar Hero games in the pipeline marking the end of an era.

Make note that despite featuring similar gameplay, Guitar Hero is not associated with Rock Band therefore the latter will live on.

New game companies are often founded by a few employees from other game companies who left for various reasons, and that’s also the case of newly established developer Second Star, which was founded by veterans in the industry who worked at EA, Bethesda and Sony Online.

The new, Northern Virginia-based studio is working on an online game which they plan to release later this year, and their one engine, HeroEngine, has already been licensed by several other developers.
