There are many different video games available on the market as you’re sure to know but not many feature the ability to play between different platforms such as PS3 – PC and the like. Of course, there are some games that do this such as DC Universe which is available for both the PS3 and PC. Sony is looking to continue this trend recently announcing that they will be bringing their MMORPG Free Realms to the PS3 on March 29th.

Instead of focusing on combat alone, Free Realms allows players to gain experience and the like by exploring, building, raising pets, playing mini-games and, of course, social networking. For the die hard MMORPG fan who plays games like World of Warcraft this may not be the most appealing tile on the market but if you’re looking to get into MMOs this seems to be a perfect starter title. That, and you can play on the PC with your buddy on the PS3 – as mentioned above.

Oh boy. Here we go again. Universal Studios is apparently in the process of making a new Doom movie. Seeing how the previous one sucked big time, at least we hope they don’t go with the same writers and director as before. The new film is a reboot of the franchise and will not be based on the events of the previous Doom film. Which also means we dunno if The Rock will return. In some ways, we kinda feel he doesn’t. Oh, and as expected, the film will be shot in 3D. Curse you, Hollywood!

THQ has released a brand new trailer, in fact the launch trailer, of Homefront. Which means the game is very, very close to release: it drops on March 15, just three days from now. In case you’re unfamiliar with the story, in Homefront, the North Koreans invade the US and it’s your job to defend the country. We have to admit though, the game looks a lot like developer Kaos Studio’s last game, Frontlines: Fuel of War, which kinda sucked. Hopefully they’ve learned from their mistakes in Homefront, and judging by the previews of the game, it looks pretty good.

Sick and tired of all the news regarding games like Call of Duty and Battlefield 3? Well, you’re in luck as THQ has just released a brand new trailer for Red Faction: Armageddon that shows off some insane looking gameplay. Of course, there isn’t really an explanation associated with all of the destruction in the video but it does give us a nice look at all of the destructible environments soon to be  included with Red Faction: Armageddon.

Now, we’re not entirely sure but if you’d asked us we’re going to assume that this gameplay focuses on a Ruin gameplay mode as, quite obviously, that’s what the video is titled.

Check it out and let us know what you think – Red Faction: Armageddon is set to drop for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on May 31st of this year.

While it’s virtually like giving your stuff away for free, GameStop’s trade-in program allows gamers to make a bit of extra cash off the games and hardware they no longer play or use. However, if you’re going into GameStop with a PlayStation 1 game, don’t expect to get a brick of gold in return. Regardless of this, if you’re looking to get rid of either your Game Boy Advance or GBA games, you may want to do so somewhat quickly.

The reason I say this is because GameStop has just announced that starting as early as April 2nd they will no longer be accepting either Game Boy Advance consoles nor Game Boy Advance games. Then again, like I said above, unless you’re really looking for some pocket change you’re probably better off just holding onto your GBA systems and games.

It seems that many of the hardest hitting and most anticipated titles coming to market in the near future are sequels or otherwise continuations of already popular franchises. Luckily, once in a while developers will come forth with new hard hitting IPs that gain a steady following and, inevitably, merit sequels.

EA’s Dead Space is a perfect example of this featuring awesomely gory gameplay, creepy scenarios and more of the like. The most current release on the market that falls into the series is Dead Space 2 which hit store shelves on January 25th of this year. But, it seems that EA it’s satisfied with the ground they’ve been making hoping to bring Dead Space 3 to a much wider audience. Below, EA Games president Frank Gibeau comments:

“The Resident Evil series was awesome, the early versions were phenomenal. [Capcom] did a good job of growing the franchise to a very large market. I think we still have some areas to grow with Dead Space in terms of trying to reach a broader audience without losing the quality and that survival-horror mechanic.”

Let’s just hope that when dumbing down the game for a wider audience they don’t ruin the gameplay we’ve come to know and love with previous Dead Space releases.

While most of the big name titles are released with a legit publisher through various retail outlets, several independently developed games featured within digital distribution outlets like the Xbox Live Arcade have been making quite a splash. Unfortunately, those who don’t have access to broadband connection will be missing out on all of the great titles but Microsoft will be directly targeting such folk with their next move.

It’s been announced today that Microsoft will be bundling three of the best Xbox Live Arcade titles – Trials HD, Limbo and Splosion Man – for retail along with a 48-hour Xbox Live Gold trial and 160 Microsoft Points all for $29.99. Even if you have a broadband connection, this is a great time to get down on all of these titles with the bundle hitting store shelves on April 19th.

There are many different fighting games on the market with titles like Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6 ruling the airwaves. However, if you’re looking for something a whol elot crazier than either of these two titles and a lot more Japanese than Marvel vs. Capcom you should definitely check out BlazBlue. Made by the guys behind the Guilty Gear franchise, BlazBlue has already seen several different releases and is ready to make the jump to the portable market.

In fact, it was just made known today that BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 is coming to both the Ninendo 3DS and PSP. Unfortunately, there was no mention of a North American release instead with the press release suggesting it is currently only confirmed for Europe.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

THQ is set on keeping its Warhammer license, something it has held for a long time. When you have a huge, fantastic world, the obvious game to make is an MMO, but we all know how difficult, time consuming and costly it is to make an MMO these days. That doesn’t stop THQ from dropping $50 million on the currently in-development Warhammer MMO. The massive price tag of the game was revealed by THQ CEO Paul Pucino during a recent conference call, and we’re not surprised that it’s that expensive: MMO usually cost at least twice as much as regular AAA titles, which these days is anywhere for $20 to $30 million. The Warhammer MMO has reportedly been in development since 2008.

The Warhammer MMO, whose official title is “Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online” is based on the 40K franchise, and is set for a fiscal 2012 release, meaning it can come as late as April 2013. So don’t close your WoW account just yet.

Warner Bros has finally announced when we’ll be able to indulge ourselves in more Batman action, and it’s on October 18 that Batman Arkham City will hit the stores. The sequel to the best selling, and critically acclaimed Batman Arkham Asylum has a lot to live up to, and it looks like developer Rock Steady Studios is on rack to deliver, considering what we’ve seen so far of the game.

In Batman Arkham City, you’re moved from the confinements of Arkham Asylum to a whole city section, which is roaming with criminals, the crazy ones, and those who are even worse, gathered from all over Gotham city. And it’s your job to clean up the mess. The game will be out on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
