While there have been many GTA copy cats to come out of various game studios over the years it’s generally accepted that Saints Row from THQ is one of the best. This title took the destruction ridden sandbox style gameplay we’ve come to know and love from the GTA series and give it is own unique twist.
Both games currently on the market in the Saints Row series have managed to impress and now THQ has come forth to announce Saints Row: The Third – quite obviously the third addition to the franchise. Below is a quote from the announcement taken from Game Informer:
“Saints Row: The Third puts you on top of the world, right at the beginning of the game, with all the perks that go along with being the head of an elite criminal organization. There’s no delivering pizza, no shuttling family members about in a long series of taxi missions. Instead, you take all the power of the Third Street Saints and you take the world by storm.”
Sounds awesome but isn’t half the fun working your way up to being the head of an elite criminal organization? Oh who am I kidding, bring on Saints Row: The Third!
As you’re sure to know Minecraft is a highly successful and popular game that was developed independently by Mojang Specifications. Well, now that the desktop version of the game has been selling like hotcakes, the game’s original creator, Notch, told us not too long ago that they would be making the jump from the PC to mobile phones a port to Apple’s iPhone.
Unfortunately, if you were looking to get your hands on the device soon you may be disappointed as Notch recently came forward during GDC to let us know that the company has yet to start work on the iPhone port. He also elaborated on what the game will be like by saying he considers it more of a “spin-off” seeing how the exact gameplay that we’ve all come to know and love from the PC version wouldn’t work too well on a 3.5-inch screen.
DICE held a big event yesterday for their upcoming shooter Battlefield 3, and today they’ve unveiled the first gameplay trailer for the game, which you can see above. Sadly, the gameplay is from the single player campaign only — no multiplayer footage yet. It still looks awesome, thought, and we can’t wait for more details about the game.

Nintendo has entered a partnership with AT&T to offer the 3DS access to 10,000 WiFi hotspots run by America’s largest telco. The access will be available by late-May. AT&T already offers free WiFi in the vast majority of Starbucks coffee shops in the US.
While many gamers may swear by their physical media consuming gaming PCs or console, the streaming game service OnLive has quickly been gaining traction. If you’re not familiar with this service you essentially download a client, find a game you want to play, pay a reduced fee and without any download times whatsoever you’ll be playing.
If you’ve already been enjoying all of the benefits that come with OnLive, you may be interested to hear that the service will soon be getting an update that will see a whole slew of new titles added to its library. In fact, these titles will be made available though their PlayPack plan that is essentially the Netflix of video games where you will pay a small monthly fee and given unlimited access to a library of titles.
Anyways, the new titles that will be coming “in the next few weeks” include Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Hitman, Mini Ninja and Thief. We’ll let you know when the titles go live.
There are many different racing franchises on the market but Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo has long been considered one of the most realistic and visisually pleasing. Currently on its 5th iteration, the latest title has not failed to impress with beautiful visuals, a whole slew of cars for gamers to choose from and enough venues to keep them busy for quite some time.
However, seeing how the game is so realistic and includes endurance races, gamers are finding themselves glued to the television for hours at a time. But, this isn’t the problem, the problem is the fact that there is no way to save your progress while in an endurance race. Luckily, Polyphony’s Kazunori Yamauchi has come forth to say that the studio is in fact working on the feature. Below is an excerpt from his Tweet:
Game saves during endurances. They are currently under development.
Once implemented, this will give gamers the ability to finish races that may take several hours by spreading them out over a longer period of time. We’ll let you know when it goes live.
Apple’s iOS mobile platform powers very popular devices such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. While there is a ton of productive software baked into the platform, everyone knows that the real joy comes out of the massive library of games found within the App Store. Of course, while hardcore gamers may find Angry Birds a bit boring, Infinity Blade from Epic Games may be more up their alley. In fact, this game is regarded as being one of the most graphically advanced games ever released for the iOS platform.
Unfortunately, not all gamers may want to spend $5.99 on a game for their iPhone but Epic has just announced today that it will be dropped down to just $2.99. In addition to the price cut, it’s also been made known that a major update will take place at some point in the near future that will include new enemies, a new dungeon area and competitive multiplayer.
Activision’s Call of Duty is without a doubt the biggest first person shooting franchise on the market today. Spanning numerous titles, the franchise’s latest release is none other than Call of Duty: Black Ops which has managed to impress in terms of sales numbers just like pretty much every other release.
One of the biggest draws to Call of Duty is its online multiplayer component which features high paced gameplay that’s generally easy for folks to pick up and play gunning down numerous enemies along the way. Anyways, folks who play Black Ops on Xbox 360 have been enjoying the First Strike DLC pack for quite some time with PS3 owners still waiting for that fateful day.
Luckily, seeing how First Strike will be making its way to the PSN this weekend, Treyarch has announced by way of Twitter that all versions of the game (Xbox 360, PC and PS3) will be getting a Double XP weekend. Get to it!
If you’ve been paying attention you’ll surely know that Crytek’s Crysis 2 has been gaining a ton of buzz lately thanks to its over the top gameplay and graphical value. However, until the game is actually released we won’t be able to tell how it does again behemoths like Call of Duty and Halo. Luckily, in the mean time, Crytek has given us a multiplayer beta for the game that will, hopefully, hold us over until 22nd when the game is released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
When I say Crytek has given us the demo I should clarify that by us I mean Xbox 360 and PC owners who got the demo earlier today. We’ve been looking for information regarding a PS3 demo and today Crytek’s Nathan Camarillo has come forth to announce that the demo will be hitting Sony’s console on March 15th.
