Minecraft has quickly become one of the most popular independently developed video game titles of all time. Starting out with just the game’s creator, Notch, Mojang Specifications has since branched out to several employees all working frantically to push out the latest Minecraft update. However, we’ve known for some time that the studio was working on another game behind closed doors but haven’t been able to figure it out – until now.
Mojang has just come forth today to announce a new game that combines elements of the trading card genre with the board game genre dubbed Scrolls. Unfortunately, the game isn’t even in alpha yet but we’ve been told that a portion of Minecraft buyers will get early access to the alpha with a public beta going live later.
Check out more information at the game’s official website here.
Super Meat Boy developer Team Meat has announced that their top selling downloadable game will be getting a retail edition called Ultra Edition, and will cost $20 at retail stores. The team Twittered a box art of the game as well.
The retail edition will be out next month and will include a copy of Super Meat Boy, a 40 page booklet with artwork and a special, extended Super Meat Boy comic as well. In addition, a soundtrack of the game will be included as well. If that’s not enough, you’ll also get a mini poster for you $20 bucks.
Japanese electronics giant Panasonic was just about to get into gaming with its new Jungle portable device, an Internet-connected portable gaming device which was unveiled last October, promising to offer especially MMO games on the go, with titles such as Stellar Dawn, Battlestar Galactica and RuneScape. And that’s about all we heard about the new device.
Now reports indicate that Panasonic seems to have come to their senses and scrapped the device. Honestly, it looked weird and the competition is just fierce these days, with Nintendo, Sony, Apple and so many other smartphone makers.
Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Black Ops multiplayer. Too much focus on kills, killstreaks, perks and what not, and not enough focus on teamplay. But that’s just me. There are also those who hate it for its rampant exploits and spaw-raping, which this video shows. How on earth is this “fun”? Getting 500 kills in a single round by spawnwaping your opponents?
If you take a look at the score screen at the end, you’ll see the player going 510-8. Our hero is the player who went 8-278, and didn’t rage quit. That takes some serious nerves. As for the players who did the spawn raping, well Activision banned them. Instead of fixing the game they ban people from using the exploits.
