According to recent rumors over at Gears3blog.com, Epic Games is interested in bringing Gears of War 3 to the PC sometime in 2012, after seeing great success with the PC version of Bulletstorm. Of course, Microsoft still has a say in this, as they’re more interested in selling more Xbox 360 consoles than pleasing the PC crowd. And if one thing will sell Xbox 360 console, it’s Gears of War. With the release of the original Gears of War and the sequel, Xbox 360 sale saw a spike, which will most likely be repeated with Gears 3.

The original Gears of War was released on PC in 2007, a year after the Xbox 360 version. However, Microsoft’s motivation for releasing the game was solely to launch its new Games For Windows Live service. Considering the failure of the service, perhaps they can try and re-launch it in 2012 with Gears of War 3 for the PC.

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that a ton of rumors have been circulating as of late that say Nintendo will come forth as some point in the near future to announce a second generation Wii console. Many of these rumors point to waning Wii sales due to the fact that both Sony and Microsoft have launched their own motion controllers for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 but up until now Nintendo remained quiet regarding the matter.

Well that has officially changed as Nintendo has just issued a statement saying that they will in fact be launching a next generation Wii at some point next year. Even better, they also confirmed that they will have a playable version of the console at this year’s E3 which is set to go down on June 7th.

What will the next generation Wii hold? We aren’t quite sure and won’t be until E3 rolls around or a hefty leak happens. Stay tuned!

If you’ve tried to log into the PlayStation Network anytime in the last couple of days you’re sure to know that you’ve been unable to do so. As we told you, this is due to the PlayStation Network quite obviously being completely down. However, while we’ve known that the network has been down, Sony hasn’t come forth to tell us exactly what is causing the downtime.

Well today they have finally come forth to tell us that the downtime is due to an ‘external intrusion’. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll probably know that following the Geohot lawsuit there was a ton of back lash against Sony from the community so it’s really no surprise that it’s ongoing despite the fact that it was slated to end not long after the lawsuit did.

What have you been doing during the PlayStation Network downtime?

There have been quite a few rumors circulating as of late regarding Nintendo’s next generation console. These couldn’t have come at a better time seeing how Nintendo Wii sales are starting to wane due to the fact that both Microsoft and Sony have released their own motion controllers. However, Nintendo has come forth to officially confirm that they are working on a next generation console set for release in the near future but that hasn’t stopped rumors from continuing.

According to the latest batch of rumors the next generation Nintendo console may be dubbed Stream and shipping this October With a price tag of $350 – $400. Furthermore, these rumors also suggest that the console will feature a AMD R700 GPU that will apparently outperform the PlayStation 3′s NVIDIA 7800GTX GPU. Unfortunately, seeing how these are just rumors we aren’t able to confirm them but it’s definitely something to think about as October will be here before you know it.

The Nintendo 3DS is finally available on the market after quite some time of anticipation. However, seeing how the console has only just been released it’s going to be some time before there is a vibrant game library to support the console. Luckily, Nintendo has some exclusives planned for the near future including an Ocarina of Time remake and even a Super Mario Bros 3DS title. However, it seems that Shigeru Miyamoto wasn’t hoping for an Ocarina of Time remake above all else but instead a remake of an older Zelda title – one I’m sure that quite a few of you are very familiar with.

Miyamoto recently went on record as saying the following when asked what he’d like to see remade:

“I think A Link To The Past.

I don’t know about you but I grew up on A Link To The Past on the SNES and still regard it as one of my favorite games of all time. Seeing it remade on the Nintendo 3DS would be nothing short of a dream come true.

Call of Duty has time and time again proven itself to be one of the hardest hitting video game franchises of all time. In fact, the most recent release, Call of Duty: Black Ops, has managed to top the charts for quite some time even going on to be the best selling PS3 game of all time – a very noteworthy feat. Currently, Black Ops is available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC – as pretty much every other FPS on the market.

While console gamers have been enjoying their early access to map packs and the like, everyone knows that the real way to experience an FPS is on the PC. Luckily, Activision and Treyarch are not neglecting the PC version of Black Ops at all. In fact, it was just made known that a brand new patch was released via Steam addressing several in game issues. The download should start automatically after restating your Steam client and when you’re waiting for it to download check out the official change list below:

  • Radar now always activates when two players remain in a OIC wager match.
  • Pack-a-Punch ammo information now visible at wall weapon purchase points in all Zombie maps.
  • Addressed an issue where Challenges were not appearing in After Action Report.
  • Zombie Thief no longer freezes when target disconnects from Zombie Pentagon.
  • Addressed various exploits.
  • Fixed possible wrong gametype shown in server info screen.

Sales charts have been a way of tracking how well games sold and compared against each others. Other than what publishers themselves had announced — which isn’t always as accurate as one thinks — sales numbers were often aggregated by sales trackers like NPD, who surveyed all the retailers and then tallied the sales numbers up.

But since digital distribution is getting a bigger and bigger slice of the pie (it’s expected to hit 50% this year), it becomes more and more difficult to get realistic sales numbers, because most of the digital distribution platforms don’t publish the numbers. Now Valve has said that they have no intentions of publishing sales date. Valve’s Steam manager Jason Holtman said,

“The point is, it’s not super important for a publisher or developer to know how well everyone is doing. What’s important to know is exactly how your game is doing — why it’s climbing and why it’s falling; your daily sales; your daily swing; your rewards for online campaign number three. That’s what we provide.”

Which sounds very good. But keep in mind that people have an ego, and they’d like to know whether they’re winning or losing against the competition.

All three major consoles currently on the market feature some sort of motion controller. The Nintendo Wii is pretty self explanatory while the Xbox 360 has the Kinect and the PlayStation 3 has the PlayStation Move. While this is all fine and dandy for console gamers it generally leaves PC gamers in the dust when it comes to motion controllers – that is, if it wasn’t for Razer.

The reason I say this is because Razer has just announced today that their Hydra motion controller for the PC will be made available this June for $139.99 bundled with the critically acclaimed Portal 2. If you’re looking tog et down on the device early be on the look out in May as pre-orders are set to open sometime next month.

And, for those of you wondering if the Hydra will work with your favorite games your in luck as Razer has posted all 125 of of Hydra compatible games for your viewing pleasure here.

One of the biggest selling points of Sony’s PS3 is the fact that you don’t have to pay for access to its online service dubbed the PlayStation Network. However, some have argued that due to this the PlayStation Network isn’t quite as reliable as the Xbox 360′s Xbox Live. This point is supported by the fact that as of late the PlayStation Network has featured some down time.

In fact, just today it was noted that the PlayStation Network has gone down. Luckily, Sony has already come forth to comment on the downtime saying they are currently looking into the problem which doesn’t sound very promising. Even worse, Sony is saying that from an early analysis of the problem they are expecting the network to possibly be down for an additional day or two.

What have you been doing when the PlayStation Network is down?

Currently on the market in terms of this generation of consoles is the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. While there have been many rumors circulating as of late regarding a successor to the Wii we haven’t heard much in terms of either a successor to the Xbox 360 or PS3. In the past, both Sony and Microsoft have went on record as saying that these consoles still have quite some time left in their life span but at some point there are going to be new consoles so it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.

Well, according to recent reports it seems that both companies may be gearing up to launch their next generation consoles sometime in the next couple of years – more specifically, 2014. Furthermore, these reports also suggest that Microsoft and/or Sony can/will release their next generation consoles early if they need to. Additionally, it’s also said that Sony may be waiting for Microsoft to release their next generation console first while they build some power behind the PS3.

Unfortunately these sources don’t really have any official backing (which comes as no surprise) but it definitely gives us something to think about. What do you want the next generation of high powered consoles to include?
