The E3 week has just wrapped up, and we’ve had a bunch of major announcements, the biggest of which was Nintendo’s new console. Nintendo announced the Wii U, which will be the successor to the Wii, and will pack some powerful hardware — more powerful than the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

But that’s not Wii U’s trump card: it’s the new controller. A brand new, and fairly large controller with a built in touchscreen, kinda like a tablet with input controllers. Nintendo showed how the new device will be able to offer a new way of playing, for instance, as you can see above, Nintendo showed a new Zelda game (which looked amazing), where the regular gameplay was on the big screen, while a map of the dungeon was on the controller screen.

Hardware wise, the new Wii U will support 1080p gameplay, and is built on the same type of hardware found in the Xbox 360, only more powerful. The Wii U is slated for released in 2012.

Minecraft has taken the world by storm and has quickly become one of the most successful independently developed titles of all time. However, what you may not have known is the fact that Minecraft is still a beta. That’s right, the game has already sold millions of copies and isn’t even a final release just yet. Luckily Mojang Specifications are doing what they can to push the game towards a final release. In fact head developer Notch has just come forth to let us know that the company is currently working on beta 1.7. The big news surrounding this beta is the fact that it will be the “adventure update” along with adding small support for mods.

Unfortunately no other information was given as to what exactly this adventure update will include but it seems that Minecraft will be a much more feature intensive game quite soon.

BioWare has been a big name in the video game industry with several different titles that have turned heads. However, time and time again towards the helm of BioWare’s portfolio is none other than the Mass Effect franchise. This franchise currently includes two different titles appropriately dubbed Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. However, it’s been known for quite some time that BioWare would get around to releasing the third iteration but when exactly we haven’t known.

Luckily during this year’s E3, which is still ongoing, BioWare has come forth to announce that Mass Effect 3 will in fact be dropping for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 6th, 2012. During the conference there were some murmurs that the game may be making its way to the newly announced Wii U but we’ve yet to hear anything official in terms of this. We’ll keep you posted.

Well folks E3 is underway and you know what that means – a ton of new announcements from every major name within the gaming industry. One of the biggest announcements to come out of Sony is the announcement of the PlayStation Vita. Before you get too excited thinking this is a PlayStation 4 make note that the Vita is simply the official name of the PSP’s successor previously known as the NGP. For those looking for a bit more background into the Vita naming, according to Sony it means Life in Latin. Now that we’ve got that out of the way let us dive into what the Vita actually offers.

If you weren’t paying attention back when the NGP was announced the PlayStation Vita features a 5-inch OLED multitouch display with 960 x 544 resolution, a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, a rear touch pad, front/rear facing cameras, dual analog sticks, a d-pad and the rest of the controls you’d expect to see on a Sony console. However, the specs aren’t the only tings Sony made official today as they have also come forth to give us the official pricing scheme for the PlayStation Vita.

Originally many thought the NGP would be priced well over $400 but that isn’t the case. Instead, Sony has let us know that the WiFi-only model will run $249.99 while the 3G enabled model complete with AT&T connectivity will run $299.99. No solid word on when the Vita will actually hit the streets but we’ll keep you posted.

Halo is one of the biggest video game franchises of all time and definitely a contender for the biggest franchise on the Xbox 360 in general. However, if you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that Bungie pulled out of Halo’s development not too long ago handing the project off to 343 Studios. Well today is E3 and one of the biggest announcements to come from the conference so far is Halo 4.

That’s right, Master Chief and Cortana will be returning in Halo 4 which is set for release sometime next year. Unfortunately there hasn’t really been much information to go by regarding what exactly the game will include so we’ll have to keep you posted on that front.

Who’s excited?
