Microsoft’s amazing new touchscreen could vastly improve mobile gaming

ON March 13th, 2012 In Industry, Mobile, Videos, Xbox 360

Microsoft has unveiled a new type of touchscreen that’s much much faster — up to 100 times faster than the screens we’re used to having in our iPhones, iPads, and Android devices. The new screen has a latency of just 1 ms, which means things look a lot more realistic (watch the video above). According to Microsoft, 1ms would enable the player to feel as if they’re moving a real, physical object.

This type of screen could vastly improve mobile gaming with very fast and precise movements, especially puzzle games and titles requiring great dexterity. Drawing games and drawing apps in particular would see the biggest benefit: it would be almost as if you finger-painted on a real surface.

Impressive stuff, to say the least.
