STFU: Who cares about Batman Arkham City cover?

ON April 25th, 2012 In Opinion

STFU — Shut The Fuck Up — is a quick rant complaining about gamers who complain.

Yesterday gamers went haywire over the reveal of the new Batman: Arkham City Game of The Year Edition cover. The outcry was the loudest on social news sites — bandits at Reddit went apeshit over the cover art, calling it “Worst. Box art. Ever“. GameTrailers’ Michael McWhertor called the box art a “tragedy“. Apparently, game covers need to like like a Monet these days.

Have we as gamers become so entitled and snobby that a great game like Arkham City is no longer enough, the cover needs to be perfect as well? Let’s show everyone that we’re civilized and belong in the art world by bitching about the cover of a game, not the game itself. That’ll show the film and literary world we mean business.

Just STFU and enjoy the game.

I think that the cover of a game is very important. True, it won’t spoil the game if the cover is ugly (like this one) but it does miss an opportunity to immerse us in the game’s world.

The cover artwork is like the liner notes of records/cd’s, and nobody would argue that album covers are not important to their experience of the music therein.

after seeing this my first time, i would agree with the complainers….seriously WTF is this!?
they just bombarded the front cover with reviews scores. WHO CARES MAN!? We all know the game got great scores and GOTY but must they freaking mash up the front cover with that garbage?
