Skyrim night club

A night club in Malaysia called “Blackmagic” has an interesting and familiar logo, one that you may have seen before, but where? Oh, that’s right, on a game called Skyrim that sold 5 or so million copies worldwide. Apparently the owners of the club never expected anyone to recognize the logo of a best-selling and widely talked about video game. Bethesda lawsuit coming in 3… 2…

Thanks to Torrey for the tip! More pics here.

Half Life lamp
Remember those slimy, ceiling traps in Half Life, called “Barnacles”, that always managed to grab you when you least expect it? German artist and sculptor Daniel Ritthanondh created an awesome Barnacle lamp that’ll most definitely scare the living hell out of those who aren’t familiar with the pesky Half Life foe.

For more Half Life, check out our recent findings on where the inspiration to Gordon Freeman came from.

Here are some never before seen images of an exhibit that ran back in 2010 for the 30th Anniversary of Pac-Man. The gallery, originally held at 3331 Arts Chiyoda just outside of Akihabara, Japan, showcased absolutely everything imaginable featuring the little Namco mascot we know and love.

Hit the jump below to see a full gallery of items Pac-Man related, such as pens, pencilboxes, games, shirts, cabinets, and much much more. READ ON »

The Witcher 2 Assassin's Creed
The above is an Easter Egg in The Witcher 2, depicting a certain protagonist from Assassin’s Creed in a not so comfortable situation after doing what he does best: jumping into carts filled with hay. You can find it in video format here.

Charlie Sheen Gordon Freeman
Charlie Sheen has been going through difficult times lately, having been kicked off his TV show, and dealing with various drugs and hooker-related problems. But if you ask Mr. Sheen, all is fine — he’s still winning.

The guys over at Reddit unearthed an old science fiction B-movie starring Sheen, a movie called The Arrival. Sheen not only plays a scientist who discovers alien life (hint hint), but he looks remarkably like Half Life protagonist Gordon Freeman. Considering the movie was released in 1996, it could very well be the inspiration for Gordon Freeman — development of Half Life started in 1996.

Zynga poker

Oh, Zynga, will thy never learn. The company which has been blatant in its ripping off other developers’ game mechanics has now been found to steal stock photos from iStockphoto. Specifically, the Zynga Poker game features a vector artwork of a football stadium, with the watermark still there. Our reader Anand did some digging and found the artwork on iStockphoto, from artist Todd Harrison.

This could be a simple glitch where Zynga forgot to remove the watermark before the stuff went live, but even then, publishing a photo without paying the creator is considered theft. Given Zynga’s reputation these days, we wouldn’t be surprised if they just didn’t care.

Thanks for the tip, Anand!

Valve SOB
It’s no secret that Valve is working on several projects at a time, but it’s a pretty big secret what those projects are. Besides Half Life 3, or Half Life 2 Episode 3, we dunno much of what’s going on, besides the occasional hats for Team Fortress 2.

But according to new evidence, the studio is working on a science fiction game with the codename “SOB”. From the recently leaked DOTA 2 code, there are several references to “ep3″, “cstrike2″, and “SOB”. According to one rumor, the SOB includes code references to “nebula”, “npc_ship”, “ship_guns”, “client_ship”, “flightplan”, “server_ship” and more. We’ve also gotten some concept art from one of Valve’s artists, who featured it on his website — the concept art of a space ship which you can see above.

Zelda tattoo

If you’re going to get a lower back tattoo, also known as a tramp stamp, you might as well do it properly. Like the female in the picture above, sporting what is arguably the best Zelda tattoo ever. Also, those pants make no sense. Also also: If you’re interested in knowing who the girl is, she verified the picture on Reddit.

Halo LEGO
Flickr user “Nick Brick” knows a thing or two about LEGOs, judging by the looks of his creations. The man specializes in recreating Halo weapons in LEGO with astounding accuracy and visual detail. For instance, the Halo Reach SRS99 rifle, pictured above. Be sure to check out more photos of his full arsenal on Flickr.

Portal 2 cake
The cake is not a lie! At least this Portal 2 themed cake, made by Redmond-based Mike’s Amazing Cakes. The Portal 2 cake is certainly one of the best looking gaming cakes we’ve seen in a while, but after all, it is made by a professional. Now all all we need to do is to have a little tasting to make sure the quality is up to Aperture Science standards. You hear us Mike? Send over a sample and testing will commence!
