There are a few different basketball games on the market with EA’s NBA Live (now NBA Elite) and Take-Two’s NBA 2K leading the pack. However, over the years, neither games have managed to secure Michael Jordan who has become virtually synonymous with the game of basketball. Luckily, 2K Sports managed to pick up Jordan for their latest basketball title NBA 2K11.

This inclusion of Jordan along with NBA Elite 11 failing to ship has helped NBA 2K11 excel. In fact, the game has excelled so much that is has become the best selling title in the history of 2K Sports.

Below, are the words of Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick:

NBA 2K11 has now sold in nearly 4 million units since launching in early October and has become the best-selling title in the history of both our basketball franchise and 2K Sports.”

It will be interesting to see if the franchise maintains this momentum going into NBA 2K12 now that the hype surrounding Jordan has died down and EA Sports is sure to have a basketball title on the market.

It was just made known that NHL 2K11 will be taking a year off on the PS3 and Xbox 360 so that Take-Two can “become a stronger competitor in the category”. Instead, they will be relased NHL 2K11 only for the Wii.

This will leave the studio time to focus entirely on developing feasible hockey controls using the Wiimote.

The Wii is notorious for having an extensive library of titles that are nothing more than a collection of mini games, so why not add one more to the mix?

2K Sports has recently stepped forward to announce Baseball Blast! which is just that, a collectinon of baseball themes mini games. The game will apparantly have an authentic feel to it as it will feature a MLB-licensed teams.

Content wise expect to find over 20 mini games along with a trivia mode featuring over 100 questions. I’m not going to pass judgement until I actually see the game but why can’t more studios put out good Wii games like The Conduit and Dead Space Extraction?

The fight for the Stanley Cup is over and the Penguins have been crowned the champions so it would only make sense that a player the winning team would grace the cover of 2K Sports’ upcoming NHL 2K10, or at least a player from the competing Red Wings, right?

Apparently not as 2K Sports has recently come forth and revealed that the Washington Capitol’s left winger Alex Ovechkin will take the honors. Below is Ovechkin’s acceptance statement:

It’s an incredible honor, and I look forward to working with 2K Sports to make NHL 2K10 the most fun and amazing hockey video game experience ever. I can’t wait to put some of my moves in there.

Sure 2K Sports has done a good job in the past with their NHL series but will NHL 2K10 be enough to thwart NHL 10? Only it’s September release date for the Wii, PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360 will tell.

If you just so happen  to purchase the recently released NBA 2K9, you are in for a surprise. When you go to install the game you will realize there is no CD-Key to be found. Why though? Well, it seems 2K Sports forgot to include one, rendering the game seemingly unplayable.

However, quickly jumping to their aid, in a statement to Shacknews, Valve announced that Steam will fix this problem allowing users to install, and play, the game regardless of a CD-Key or not, provided the retail CD is in fact in your CD drive:

Owners of the retail version of NBA 2K9 for the PC may now install their games without the CD key, provided the disc is in the drive. And those considering a purchase of NBA 2K9 may do so without concern of installation issues related to the lack of a CD key

While the game is also available for the PS3 and Xbox 360, the console version of the game remains unaffected.
