Back in November we let you know that Microsoft was gearing up to launch a wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 that would allow for 802.11n compatibility. Well, here we are a few months later and the product is still sitting at a rather expensive $99.99.

Luckily, our buds over at Amazon.com have discounted the device as their Video Game Deal of the Day dropping the price from $99.99 to $74.99. Of course, it’s still a steep price to pay to give your console wireless, especially when the PS3 has it out of the box, but what can you do?

Last week an Xbox 360 WiFi adapter that supported 802.11n was spotted at the FCC but Microsoft kept quiet about its existence. Today, they have come forth and told Joystiq that the device does in fact exist but otherwise didn’t give many details.

They did however let us know that the device will be “another choice to consumers” which leads us to believe that both the 802.11n and previous 802.11g will be on store shelves together. Perhaps the 802.11n adapter will take the price point of the 802.11g at $99 while the later will get a price cut.

We’ll have to wait until Microsoft says more before we make anymore assumptions.

The current Microsoft licenensed Xbox 360 WiFi adapter only supports 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11a which is quickly becoming obsolete due to the prominence of 802.11n. Microsoft has evidentally made note of this as an Xbox 360 WiFi adapter has made its way through the FCC featuring 802.11n compatibility.

There’s no word on when we will see this hardware hit the streets but let’s hope it’s soon.
