The various mobile platforms currently on the market have become so successful that some analysts have said that they will eventually go on to phase out dedicated mobile consoles such as the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. While we’ve yet to see such a thing happen it’s no secret that platforms like Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android are becoming quite popular with hit titles such as Angry Birds.
However, the developers of these platforms aren’t looking to slow their revenue creating abilities just yet. In fact, it was just announced today that Google will be giving Android users the ability to make in-app purchases at some point next week. In other words, if you’re playing a game that requires something like energy that replenishes over time (a la FarmVille, CityVille, etc.) you will soon be able to waste money on refilling that energy bar without ever leaving the app. Oh joy!

If you’ve been paying attention to the buzz you’ll probably know that Sony Ericsson is hard at work on an unannounced gaming device commonly known as the PlayStation Phone. However, what you might not have known is the fact that Sony plans to release an Official PlayStation App for the iOS and Android platforms.
Unfortunately, it seems that this app won’t effectively turn your device into a PSP, as we had hoped, as no downloadable games seem to have fallen into this version. Instead, this free mobile application will allow iOS and Android users to check their trophies, friends lists, the PS blog and more.
Sounds pretty boring but it’s definitely a step in the direction of that fabled PlayStation phone we all love to hear about. According to our sources, individuals with iOS 4 or Android 1.6 and above will be able to get down on the phone.
We’ll let you know when more information is made known.

Game Crazy has just released a previously unannounced app to the App Store for use with both the iPhone and iPod Touch.
According to the app’s description users will be able to see when new titles are set to come out along with viewing high-resolution trailers of said new titles. Additionally, users will be able to find out how much used game trade-ins will be worth so they can see if its worth it before they get to the store.
This app is definitly a welcome addition to the App Store and is sure to garner some internet. Unfortunately I don’t have any Game Crazys around me but does anyone want to make a bet on how long until Game Stop releases an identical app?
