Crytek’s Crysis has long been regarded as one of the most graphically advanced games on the market. In fact, at the time of its release it was hard to find a PC that could run it in all of its glory. Flash forward some time and now Crysis 2‘s development is underway with a release date of March 2011. Quite obviously the game will feature superb visuals that will match if not eclipse the first title. However, Crysis 2 will also feature support for 3D – something that original game did not.
While the Crysis 2 3D experience will presumably be a great one, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has said the following:
“I’ll even claim it’s the same as Avatar’s status in 3D. James Cameron has seen Crysis 2, and he loved what he saw because his eyes are trained for 3D more than anyone else’s, and that makes me confident that we have a super-high-end 3D experience on all formats.”
As you’re sure to know Avatar was one of the highest grossing movies of all time being applauded again and again for it’s amazing 3D visuals. If Crytek is able to capture the same experience and replicate it into a game they may have quite the winner on their hands. That is, if anyone can actually afford a 3DTV.

While Avatar is quickly becoming the highest grossing film of all time, Ubisoft’s Avatar game has been met with lackluster reception and sales (read our Avatar game review here), prompting Ubisoft to reveal that they’ll spend less money on games with licensed content, like movies and books. Avatar the game has sold over 2 million units despite rather disappointing reviews, and two million would’ve been considered a success for almost every game other than highly anticipated blockbusters.

If you weren’t aware, Square Enix has been handing out codes for a free Chocobo Avatar pet for use with Xbox Live. While the requirements for getting the code weren’t exact, you basically just had to promote FFXIII online. Well, the promotion is over and Square Enix will no longer be handing out the codes but that doesn’t mean you completely lost your chance to get one.
As of writing this, there are 33 Chocobo Avatar pet codes listed on eBay ranging from $1.50 all the way up to $50. Wait, is someone out there really willing to pay $50 for an Avatar pet?

It seems that Microsoft has recently filed a new patent for Avatars that will be physically . This means that if this technology were to make it to the market you would be able to automaically have an Avatar generated for you based on your your health and other things.
A cool idea? Certainly, but will Microsoft ever be able to actually get this thing out to the public? Well, that remains to be seen.
