Thanks to the App Store Apple’s iOS powering devices like the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has become a premiere gaming platform. Sure many of the titles aren’t as full fledged as something you’d find on a dedicated portable console like the Nintendo 3DS but many big studios have gotten down on the fun releasing many top notch titles.
EA, for example, is one of the biggest game studios getting down on iOS with several of their hardest hitting franchises already available. In fact, just today it was announced that EA will be holding a sale on their iOS games bringing many of the hottest titles to a more palatable price tag. For example, Dead Space, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12, SimCity Deluxe, The Sims 3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and The Simpsons Arcade.
All of these titles have been dropped to $5 or less with several of them dropped to just $1.
EA has revealed that Bad Company 2 sales have surpassed 5 million units in the two months the game has been released. This is better than the previous game, which has sales rumored of 4 million to date. The game continues to sell well, and expect sales to top around 8 million by the end of the year.
It seems that the reign of Modern Warfare 2 is, somewhat, coming to and end. The weekly results for Steam has come in and Infinity Ward’s latest title isn’t first, hell it isn’t even second. In fact, those 2 spots have been secured by Aliens vs Predators and Battlefield: Bad Company 2, respectively.
Of course, Modern Warfare 2 was in a close third but what’s pretty amazing to me is that Counterstrike: Source is still on this list, after all these years.
Full list below:
1. Aliens vs Predator 2. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition 3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 4. THQ Complete Pack 5. BioShock 2 6. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising 7. Mass Effect 2 8. Left 4 Dead 2 9. Global Agenda 10. Counter-Strike: Source
The EA Store is running quite a sweet deal for those looking to acquire Bad Company 2: if you pre-order the game on the EA Store, you’ll get Battlefield 2142 for free. While 2142 wasn’t the best Battlefield game, it still offered lots of fun and the good ol’ BF formula.
A wonderful fan video explaining what Bad Company 2 is all about and how to play, a video especially dedicated to all the Modern Warfare 2 players out there looking to get into Bad Company 2.
It has been revealed that Bad Company 2 will indeed feature DLC, and not just any DLC, an actual in-game store, as producer Patrick Bach said,
“We have an in-game store where you get free content or you can buy new content to the game, so it’s a very integral part of the game that we will have a long post-launch campaign. I think people will be thrilled to see what’s in that already. On day one, you will get some really cool stuff.”
We’re sure people will be thrilled as long as it’s free. Sadly, though, it seems that EA is determined to apply the nickle and dime theory to every one their games.
DigitalBattle is proud to announce that we’ve launched a brand new blog, focused entirely on the upcoming Battlefield Bad Company 2. We’ll be updating it daily with all the latest news, updates, rumors and media surrounding Bad Company 2, and we’ll have exclusive interviews and features as well.
Whad’ya say about that, EA has released the Battlefield Bad Company 2 multiplayer demo on the Xbox 360, completely out of no where, taking us all by surprise. Well, not anymore, now that we know about it (and now that it’s downloading on our Xbox 360). You can grab the demo now (it’s 1.4 GB). The multiplayer demo will be open until February 8, a week before the release of the game. The demo will be out for PS3 users on February 4. PC users? Nothing has been announced yet.
Mass Effect 2 and Bad Company 2 have climbed to the top of the sales chart on Steam, and impressive feat, considering that neither of the games have been released and the sales are only for pre-orders of both games. Mass Effect 2 hits the shelves (and Steam unlock) tomorrow, while Bad Company 2 will be released on March 2.
DICE have announced that the PC beta of Bad Company 2 will run from January 28th to February 25th, and will be offered to a wide selection of gamers, especially those who have pre-ordered the game. The single map will be Port Valdez, a show map with up to 32 players in infantry and vehicles, and only the “Rush” game mode will be supported. Furthermore, it looks like the anti-cheat system will once again be PunkBuster, which, if you played BF2, isn’t exactly known to be stopping many cheats.
