Pokemon has been around since 1996 as a video game franchise, trading card game, movie series, television series and much, much more. While one may think that the game’s popularity would run dry after all these years, the video game titles still interest legions of gamers everywhere. The latest additions to the series are both Pokemon Black and Pokemon White.

Both titles are set to hit store shelves on March 6th of this year and since the release date is so close, Nintendo has come forth today to announce brand new DSi bundles, as you can see above. Both consoles will feature a Pokemon etched on the outside and will retail for $179.99 when the games hit store shelves.

As for the games themselves? They will retail for the usual $34.99 on March 6th, as mentioned before.

Despite being around for an incredibly long time, Pokemon continues to impress in terms of sales numbers just about every time a video game donning the franchise’s name hits the market. This looks to be the same with the forthcoming Nintendo DS titles Pokemon Black and Pokemon White. While we could sit here all day and tell you about the new game I’m sure you’ve already heard all about it. What you may not have heard, however is that from February 21st – March 6th Gamestop is handing out the Pokemon Celebi (to owners of one of the previous Nintendo DS Pokemon games) for use in the upcoming game. According to the press release, transferring Celebi to your Black or White save file will give you access to the brand new Pokemon dubbed Zorua.

We’ll give you a reminder again once the time rolls around just in case you forget.

Press release after the break.

Pokemon is one of the most well known game franchises in the world with their highly popular set of portable games selling millions. However, while the games started off quite simple (not to mention 2D) the franchise has come quite a ways since. The latest titles, Pokemon Black & White, are quickly approaching with a March 6th North American launch.

In lieu of this quickly approaching release date, a new trailer has hit the streets which we’ve included for your viewing pleasure above. Luckily, this time around, the trailer is in English so those of you who can’t speak Japanese won’t have any problem following along.

Of all the video game franchises currently on the market there are some that really stand out above the rest. However, during the late 90′s and early 00′s, the Pokemon franchise showed us that even cute little monsters that live within tiny balls can become a worldwide phenomenon. Not only has the franchise spawned a card game, TV series, several movies and countless merchandise but it’s also created a whole slew of highly popular games.

Above the rest, the games destined for Nintendo’s portable consoles (Gameboy – Nintendo DS) are without a doubt the most popular. The next release is set to be Pokemon Black and White but we’ve yet to hear of an official release date.

Well if you’re a Pokemon fan you’ll be happy to hear that rumors have surfaced today that say the two titles will be coming out on April 17th, 2011 with the word coming from a “mysterious flier”. Unfortunately, we don’t have any official words to confirm this but once we get said words, we’ll pass them your way.

Yesterday we let you in on a rumor that a Black Wii Console would be coming to the United States. Well, now we have some concrete evidence to support that as a poster from GameStop has turned up.

As you can see, just like the rumor said, the console will be $199 and come with both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.

I wish I could trade my white Wii in for this.

blackwii

Ever since the Wii was called the Nintendo Revolution we’ve known that Nintendo has been cookin’ up some colored consoles but have yet to see any in the United States. Luckily, CVG recently got in touch with various US retailers that have said a black Wii console will arrive in the United States next month.

News comes from Frys who tells our source that the console will arrive at the $199 price point complete with black Wiimote, Nunchuck, MotionPlus in addition to Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.

Anyone holding out until one of these hits stores?

bodycount

While Stuart Black’s forthcoming first person shooter, Bodycount may feel like a previous title he’s worked on, Black, I’m sure gamers are a bit more curious how it will stack up against another heavy hitting title namely, the Call of Duty franchise. Well, according to Black, that’s the latest of his concerns:

“I’m not interested in beating CoD, I’m not interested in pulling people away from it, I want to give them something else to play as well.”

So, either this means the game doesn’t even compare to CoD or it’s so kick ass awesome that it will leave CoD in the dust.

black

If you’re not familiar with it, Black was a game for the PS2 and original Xbox that was developed by Criterion Games. It was applauded for its approach to the FPS genre adding in little things like motion blur when reloading to make for the most realistic experience possible. One of the masterminds behind the game, Stuart Black, has moved on to be the creative director behind Bodycount.

These two game tie together because Stuart Black says that after playing Black on the Playstation Network, he realized that there was a need for a game that felt the same, and only he would be able to do that.

So, it seems that Bodycount will be like Black? Let’s hope so, I loved that game.

Before Criterion Games started working on the Burnout series, they made an interesting FPS called Black, which was released on the PS2 and Xbox. One of the creators of Black, whose name is Stuart Black, is now working with Codemasters on a new FPS. They already have an 80 person team working on the game, which is quite substantial.
