bodycount

While Stuart Black’s forthcoming first person shooter, Bodycount may feel like a previous title he’s worked on, Black, I’m sure gamers are a bit more curious how it will stack up against another heavy hitting title namely, the Call of Duty franchise. Well, according to Black, that’s the latest of his concerns:

“I’m not interested in beating CoD, I’m not interested in pulling people away from it, I want to give them something else to play as well.”

So, either this means the game doesn’t even compare to CoD or it’s so kick ass awesome that it will leave CoD in the dust.

black

If you’re not familiar with it, Black was a game for the PS2 and original Xbox that was developed by Criterion Games. It was applauded for its approach to the FPS genre adding in little things like motion blur when reloading to make for the most realistic experience possible. One of the masterminds behind the game, Stuart Black, has moved on to be the creative director behind Bodycount.

These two game tie together because Stuart Black says that after playing Black on the Playstation Network, he realized that there was a need for a game that felt the same, and only he would be able to do that.

So, it seems that Bodycount will be like Black? Let’s hope so, I loved that game.

bodycount

Codemasters has been talking about a brand new IP that they are developing for some time now but hadn’t confirmed anything solid. Not long after they filed a trademark for Bodycount which made even more rumors fly. Now, the studio has officially announced that Bodycount will in fact be their newest IP and will be dropping sometime in 2011.

The game will be an FPS and is described as all sorts of badass. The game will have players gunning down countless eneimes and blowing up pretty much everything in their path. And yes, it will be including some form of multiplayer.

Again, Bodycount will be dropping sometime in early 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

About 10 days ago we let you know that Codemasters was planning to unveil their currently unannounced FPS title sometime next month. There has been much speculation over what this title will be but some new evidence has been brought to the table. It seems that Codemasters has recently filed a trademark for the title Bodycount.

Does this mean that their new game will be called Bodycount? It could be, but it could also be a move by Codemasters to throw off the press. If, however, it is called Bodycount one could assume that they will be killing large amounts of enemies.
