EA Sports line up of different sports titles have long been regarded as some of the best sports simulators on the market. Fight Night is no different being regarded as the go-to boxing franchise applauded for its realistic gameplay, graphics and control scheme. However, while the Fight Night franchise is regarded as one o the best, it doesn’t exactly follow a storyline which should come as no surprise considering it’s a boxing simulator.

However, EA Sports has just released the official trailer for Fight Night Champion which we’ve included for you above. As you can see, this new title will feature an actual plot that includes prison, bare knuckle fighting and the works.

I don’t know about you guys but I’m definitely liking what I’m seeing. Will you pick up Fight Night Champion when it drops for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 1st?

EA has announced that their boxing simulator Fight Night Round 4 will be getting a new DLC pack this December. The DLC will include two new game modes and three new fighters, which are none other than Sonny Liston, Evander Holyfield, and Bernard Hopkins. Among the new modes is Ring Rivalries, which tries to recreate historic boxing matches. The DLC will retail for 800 MS points, or $10.

EA Sports has today announced that 2 DLC packs will be hitting the PSN and Xbox Live for their popular boxing sim, Fight Night Round 4.

According to Kotaku, the first DLC pack will hit in early August and will feature a new gym, new equipment, and an Xbox 360 exclusive alternative to Sugar Ray Leonard.

The second DLC pack, scheduled for release in September, will give players the option to use the face buttons for punching instead of the joystick control. This was apparantly after the gaming community requested the addition of the feature from EA Sports.

Again Nintendo prevails on my deeply ingrained sense of nostalgia by bringing a game that I actually recognized from my original straight-eight days of gaming. See, way back when, before Mike Tyson was a gigantic practical joke / train wreck, he was a professional boxer. And a good one, too! So good that Nintendo commissioned a game around him, dubbed Mike Tyson’s Punch Out. As time went on and Iron Mike’s career went wildly off the rails (and his contract expired, unrenewed), Nintendo then sought a way to re-release their game without paying Tyson. Thus, the game was shortened to Punch Out and Iron Mike was replaced with a no-name called “Mr. Dream”.

And now, Nintendo has once again released its Punch Out line, this time for the all too appropriate Wii. You’ll once again step into the role of the Bronx’s boxing sensation Little Mac, looking to make a name for yourself along with your trainer Doc Lewis. You’ll take on a series of outrageous characters with a series of different boxing styles until you face your final opponent. You’ll also be able to completely replay the game in a whole different way by selecting the Title Defense mode, in which you’ve already won the title but are now out to hold onto it against every boxer you defeated. And they’re none too happy about the loss.

The first thing that I have to tell you, if you’re going to try this game is, for the sake of all that’s holy, STRETCH FIRST. It may not be intuitive—stretch before playing a video game? Preposterous!—but you’re going to save yourself plenty of hurt if you stretch your arms and shoulders before playing. The way this game is set up, there’s two ways to play—with the Wii controller horizontally inclined like a normal controller, or using the motion sensitivity features of the Wii to make regular air punches, and believe me, you will be throwing a LOT of punches. The boxers you’ll face are downright turtles in their capacity for blocking, and you can pretty much count on one in every two or even three of your punches landing. That is, of course, unless you’ve studied a walkthrough or videos or even practiced in advance so you already know each boxer’s pattern.

Each of the boxers you’ll face does have a pattern, and generally, it won’t take too long to learn just where to lean and where to block and where to throw punches like a lunatic, but still, in the intervening space you will be wasting PLENTY of motion. All of this can do horrible things to your arms and shoulders if you’re not careful. Trust me, I still ache from my bout with King Hippo.

But still…I’m pretty satisfied with this game. It’s got decent graphics and excellent background musical effects and fun gameplay that’ll actually be a halfway decent workout. That’s the one really interesting thing about the Wii, really—a lot of their games make good workouts. And this is a workout that’s surprisingly plenty of fun, too, making it one of the best kind: the kind where participants will come back.

Be it a spoiler or not this is big news — It was recently discovered by a gamer who got their hands on Punch-Out!! that the game’s secret character is none other than Donkey Kong.

Check out the above video to see Little Mac duke it out with the massive ape in a 1v1 boxing match.

Punch-Out!!, a Wii take on the popular NES title Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!, hit store shelves on May 18th so it’s a wonder why the game’s secret character took so long to be discovered.

You thought using the Wiimote and Nunchuk for the upcoming Punch-Out!! was realistic? Get a whiff of this –The modder featured in the above video took a Slam Mans boxing dummy, outfitted it with a whole array of different buttons making for a completely unique way to play the classic NES title Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!.

Two buttons on the face for left and right face hits, two in the stomach for left and right body hits, and three in the chest area for dodge, block, and start button for use with star punches.

Honestly though, check out the video because you’re going to have to see it to believe it.

Up until now I’ve always look at the Wii Balance Board as sort of a gimicky peripheral. I mean, everything you could do with it (besides Wii Fit) you can do with the Wiimote easier. However, the control scheme for Punch-Out!! has recently been reveiled and the Balance Board looks to be a welcome addition.

As you can see, the player can apply pressure to both feet to duck and pressure ot the left or right feet to dodge either way. Pretty cool, huh? Definitely a step up from Wii Boxing which was bundled with Wii Sports.

Punch-Out!! is set to hit shelves for the Nintendo Wii next week.

If you had any doubts that Fight Night Round 4 would be the most realistic boxing video game you’ve ever played, the above trailer should effectively put them to rest.

EA has recently released said trailer that details everything from the ridiculously realistic venues to the ridiculously realistic physics behind the cloth animation all featured in Fight Night Round 4. Now, I wonder what Fight Night Round 5 will look like.

The game is expected to hit store shelves on June 30th for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Sure, EA correctly predicted this past weekend’s professional boxing match using the game, but up until now we didn’t even know Fight Night Round 4‘s full roster.

Recently leaked by means of a scanned Official Playstation Magazine page, the Fight Night Round 4 roster includes a full 50 fighters for you to choose from.

Not happy with the list? Nestled subtly above the list is a little tidbit that there is a possibility of more boxers being added via DLC.

Full list after the break. READ ON »
