In case you wanted Crysis 2 on Steam today, you’re out of luck: CryTek’s FPS, among other EA titles, are gone from Steam. This is most likely EA preparing to offer its own exclusive titles to its Origin download service, but EA has issues a statement saying otherwise:

According to EA, Crytek “has an agreement with another download service which violates some new rules imposed by Steam, resulting in the expulsion of Crysis 2 from Steam,”, EA told gaming site Giant Bomb. Apparently, new Steam rules forbid certain games from being offered on other services, but this is unconfirmed.

There are still a few AAA titles from EA on Steam, including Bad Company 2, Bulletstorm and Dragon Age 2. EA has said that they intend to have exclusive titles for their new Origin service, including tar Wars: The Old Republic.

Crytek’s Crysis franchise is without a doubt one of the the best looking games to ever hit the streets. In fact, the first entry into the franchise required such high tech hardware that many folks couldn’t even run it. Luckily, Crytek has taken to consoles with their latest title appropriately dubbed Crysis 2 which has given many more gamers access to the beautiful looking game. However, while the game looks quite good on the console there’s no denying the fact that at the highest settings the PC version blows it away. But, many PC gamers have been angry about the fact that the game is essentially a console to PC port rather than the opposite. Another thing that has pissed them off is the fact that the game did not ship with functionality for Direct X 11.

Luckily, it’s just been made known that Crytek will be answering the cries of PC gamers everywhere by releasing a DirectX 11 update for the game. Now, it’s not known exactly when the update will be coming out just yet so you’re going to sit tight until further information is made known.

In this day and age gamers are doing everything they can to gain an edge over one another. Unfortunately many times this means cheating in one form or another be it exploiting an in game glitch or using a modified console. In first person shooter games in particular this seems to happen more often than not and Crytek’s recently released Crysis 2 seems to be no different.

Luckily, Crytek seems to be jumping on this problem sooner rather than later releasing a statement today that they are doing what they can to not only eliminate the exploits that give some gamers an unfair advantage while also penalizing the players that actually choose to utilize these exploits.

So folks, in a nutshell, don’t cheat on Crysis 2 or else Crytek will find you and it won’t be pretty.

Crysis 2‘s March 22nd release date is quickly approaching and with demos on the market for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gamers are getting a glimpse of the graphically intensive action. But what, there’s no PS3 demo available for download, you say? Yes! It was just made known that Crytek has been forced to pull the PS3 multiplayer demo of Crysis 2 due to severe connection problems plaguing said demo.

According to EA, pulling the demo will give Crytek enough time to polish out the bugs prior to the game actually launching but this probably also means that the PS3 demo won’t be resurfacing before the game is out considering, you know, it’s out in just a few days.

If you’ve played the Crysis 2 demo how have you liked it?

According to Crytek’s Anvi Yerli, the company is considering offering a stripped down, smaller version of its CryEngine 2 to modders and small developers, in an effort to get the community involved with the engine. Kind of like Epic does with its Unreal Engine 3 UDK, which it recently changed so that developers can sell their games made by the free version of Unreal Engine 3 until they reach $50,000 USD in sales, after that, Epic takes a 25% cut of sales. Anvi Yerli says that Crytek has a business model in mind, and the CryEngine 2 UDK will most likely be free. So far, what we’ve seen of CryEngine 2 kinda disappointed us, judging by the Crysis 2 demo we played. While it looked great, it didn’t look that better than Crysis 1, and on the PS3, the game doesn’t even run in HD.

As we’ve told you many times in the past Crytek’s Crysis has long been regarded as one of the most graphically advanced games on the market. Unfortunately, due to the fact that it required such a high end machine to run coupled with the fact that it was exclusive to the PC it never reached the critical mass it deserved. Luckily, Crytek will be taking their next generation game to the Xbox 360 and PS3 as well giving console gamers a taste of what the Crysis world is all about. However, many console gamers have wondered how much worse (if at all) Crysis 2 will look on their console as opposed to the PC version.

Well, right on cue, a video has appeared on YouTube comparing the Crysis 2 PC demo to the Crysis 2 Xbox 360 demo. The video doesn’t touch on gameplay or anything of the sort instead serving as a comparison between the two platforms. Check it out and let us know what you think – which platform will you be getting Crysis 2 for?

Crytek’s Crysis 2 is expected top be one of the biggest shooters of the year continuing where the original title left off as one of the most graphically advanced games we’ve ever seen. However, Crytek will be making the leap from the PC to the PS3 and Xbox 360 as well. While the game isn’t set to hit store shelves until March 22nd for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, there has been a demo released for the PC and Xbox 360 with the PS3 version coming on the 15th.

There has been some mixed reviews on the Crysis 2 demo but PC gamers in particular have had some gripes with the demo.  Luckily, Crytek has just released a patch that addresses many of the user gripes found in the PC demo. First of all, “Press Start” has been replaced with “Press Enter”, everyone starts with zero ping, numbers are now supported in user names, support for G35 headsets has been added and a few other things.

CryTek showcased its brand new CryEngine 3 at GDC 2011, and the engine certainly looks pretty sleek, and seemingly does in real time — what takes animators months to do on animated films. However, seeing how Crysis 2 doesn’t manage to look any better that Crysis 1, judging by the demo, we really dunno how to judge the CryEngine 3 demo, apparently what you see isn’t what you get. If Crytek can’t make Crysis 2 look any better than Crysis 1, at least for now, then how can other developer spending $2 million on a CryEngien 3 license do so? The engine is a multiplatform engine, but it has since been revealed that the PS3 version of Crysis 2 runs a resolution lower than 720p.

When Crytek first released Crysis back in 2007 the world was wowed by the beautiful graphics, amazing physics and overall kick ass gameplay. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the game only came out for the PC and was only able to run on a very, very high end PC the number of people the game could have reached was severely limited. Luckily, Crysis 2‘s March 22nd release date is just around the corner when it will hit store shelves for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

If you’re just itching for every piece of information you can get about Crysis 2 you’ll be happy to know that Crytek has just released a brand new video today dubbed Multiplayer Progression: Weapons. I’m not going to go ahead and ruin the surprise for you but I’m sure you can guess by the title of the video what it’s about.

Check it out and let us know what you think.

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll surely know that Crytek’s Crysis 2 has been gaining a ton of buzz lately thanks to its over the top gameplay and graphical value. However, until the game is actually released we won’t be able to tell how it does again behemoths like Call of Duty and Halo. Luckily, in the mean time, Crytek has given us a multiplayer beta for the game that will, hopefully, hold us over until 22nd when the game is released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

When I say Crytek has given us the demo I should clarify that by us I mean Xbox 360 and PC owners who got the demo earlier today. We’ve been looking for information regarding a PS3 demo and today Crytek’s Nathan Camarillo has come forth to announce that the demo will be hitting Sony’s console on March 15th.

Stay tuned.
