Zombies, despite being grotesque and not very nice to be around have essentially spawned an international phenomenon. For years now movie makers have been pushing out big budget titles focusing on the living dead with movie goers everywhere clamoring over the latest releases. Well, us gamers aren’t much different as there are many different zombie focused video games on the market and even more come to market soon. One such title coming to market soon that has been generating a ridiculous amount of buzz is none other than Zombie Island.

However, if you’re looking for something you can actually play now than the Dead Rising franchise will do just fine. In fact, if you’re looking to get down on this franchise now is a perfect chance. The reason I say this is because the price tag for the game has just been cut from $59.99 all they way down to $29.99 – a 50% savings.

Not too bad – especially for a game that was as well received as Dead Rising 2. Check it out and let us know what you think.

The second DLC for Dead Rising 2, Case West, an epilogue which wraps up the main storyline, has been released on Xbox Live — PlayStation 3 fans are sadly left out, as this is an Xbox Live exclusive deal.

Case West adds a new setting to Dead Rising 2 with new single-player missions. The previous DLC, Case Zero was release before the game as a prologue and sold quite well for a “demo”. Case West is available for 800 Microsoft points, or $10 bucks.

Dead Rising 2 has become somewhat of a hit, even surprising Capcom, which has announced that Dead Rising 2 has shipped 2 million copies. Shipped doesn’t mean that it sold as many copies, but it’s an indication of how much demand there is for the game. Dead Rising 2 has received great reviews and has been well received by fans as well — you can check out our Dead Rising 2 review here.

After the success of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, the souped-up demo and the prologue to Dead Rising 2 which sold 500,000, Capcom has announced Dead Rising 2: Case West, which is the epilogue of Dead Rising 2, where an episode plays out with the new hero, Chuck Greene, meets the hero of Dead Rising 1, Frank West.

Capcom’s demo of Dead Rising 2, which is a bit longer than a regular demo and is subtitled “Case Zero”, retails for $5 on Xbox Live. According to GamerBytes, the game has sold over 300,000 copies, and with Microsoft’s 30% cut, it means that it made Capcom well over $1 million. Hopefully this isn’t a new trend, where we have to pay for demos as well. On top of paying for for content as DLC, which should have already been i the game.

zombrexRecently, Keiji Inafune, the creator of the Dead Rising series filmed a movie based on the popular zombie-fighting franchise and it’s due to hit the United States in the near future. The actual film is called Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun and it will not be available in theaters. Instead, fans of the Dead Rising series can expect to find it online in eight downloadable segments throughout the summer.

Furthermore, Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun was made as a first-person action flick interestingly enough. Those of you who stay current with “video games-turned-to-film” might remember the terrible job that was done with Doom quite a while ago. There is a trailer for Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun. It opens with two brothers struggling to survive a zombie attack, a nurse is also involved and one of the brothers is in a wheelchair. Apparently, the actual story isn’t the strongest selling point for the movie although it does borrow certain plot elements from Dead Rising 2. Toward the trailer’s conclusion, the wheelchair is out-fitted with a top-notch, zombie-destroying arsenal. This will pay tribute to the weapon system featured in Dead Rising 2.

The successor to the popular Xbox 360 zombie game, Dead Rising, has finally received a release date: September 28 is the date when you can go all out against the hordes of zombies. The original release date was sometimes-in-late-August, but it has now been pushed back for a moment for some last moment polishing.

While the first Dead Rising was fun, killing zombies over, and over, and over got a bit repetiative. Well, Capcom is looking to change that with Dead Rising 2 adding a whole slew of new features that are sure to have you coming back for more. The most prominent of said features in co-op which Capcom has confirmed.

This means that you will be able to team up with a buddy and slay zombies. What better way to bond than a harmless zombie slaying?

Dead Rising 2 was absent from E3 due to concerns over the infamous Swine Flu. So, the next logical place it would show up would be PAX, right? Nope, it seems that Dead Rising 2 will in fact be absent from PAX just as it was E3 with its next public showing slated for the Tokyo Game Show set to take place in September.

Joystiq proceeded to contact a Capcom representative for comment but all they got in return was to look out for the game during the Tokyo Game Show. Bummer.

Dead Rising 2 will be out for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC on March 21st, 2010.
