Watchmen: The End is Nigh developer Deadline Game has filed for bankruptcy in its native of Denmark. We reported last month that Deadline Games was in trouble, and it has now been revealed that the developer has been unable to find new investors for the past few months.

As a consequence, the studio is now is shutting down. In addition to Watchmen, the developer has been working on Faith and a .45, the ambitious co-op game, which has now been cancelled.

The first episode of downloadable beat ‘em up companion to the upcoming Watchmen movie will cost $20 when it hits PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 next week.

Developed by Deadline Games, Watchmen: The End is Nigh will allow two players to take control of Rorschach and Nite Owl in a flashback to the superhero duo’s early crime fighting days. It is based on a 1987 pen and paper RPG that was co-written by series creator Alan Moore.

The End is Nigh can be grabbed starting Wednesday, March 4. The PC version of the game can be bought on Steam and Direct2Drive.
