Nintendo has just recently released their glasses-free 3D display touting Nintendo 3DS portable video game console (that was a mouthful) to the public around the world. Already, the console has been garnering positive interesting with gamers applauding the handheld for innovative things such as the 3D camera and included AR (augmented reality) cards. Due to this popularity, Sony is going to need to hurry up and get the NGP (commonly referred to as the PSP2) out the door before it’s too late.
Unfortunately, recent reports suggest that Sony has been met with a bump in the road in the form of some natural disasters. We’ve already told you several times in the past that many different companies have fallen victim to the Japanese earthquake and it seems that Sony is no different. According to these reports, Sony has been forced to delay the release of the NGP until sometime in 2012 due to the earthquake.
Word comes to us straight from the mouth of SCEA president Jack Tretton who says the May 11th natural disasters may result in just a single region seeing the NGP before the end of the year. This goes against previous plans of releasing the NGP is Asia and North America before the clock strikes 2012. Which region will be getting the NGP first? We aren’t quite sure just yet but we’ll keep you posted as the story develops.
For quite some time it was largely accepted that Duke Nukem Forever would never be released. However, following the closure of 3D Realms the game was picked up by Gearbox Software and slapped with a May release date. This was all fine and well as a ton of promotional material had begun coming out including gameplay videos, teaser trailers, talk of the game’s multiplayer modes and much more.
The funny thing? The game has just been delayed once again. That’s right, Gearbox Software has come forth to let us know that they will be pushing the game’s release date from May to June 10th. Ridiculous? Yes, but let’s hope they don’t delay the game again or gamers who are actually awaiting Duke Nukem Forever may give up hope.
Check out Gearbox Software announce the delay in the above video.
One of the more popular fighting games to hit the shelves as of late is none other than Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. If you couldn’t tell from the title (or haven’t played a Marvel vs. Capcom game in the past) the Capcom developed game allows you to choose your favorite Capcom characters such as Ryu and face off against your favorite Marvel characters such as Iron Man.
However, just because the game is on the market doesn’t mean the developers are done with the onslaught of content - not by a long shot. In fact it’s been known for a while that Capcom would get around to releasing the Shuma and Jill DLC for the game which, quite obviously, adds the characters Shuma-Gorath and Jill Valentine. Unfortunately it seems that the DLC has been delayed from March 15th to an unannounced date.
When the DLC does drop, however, you can expect it to be priced at 400 Microsoft Points or $5. We’ll keep you posted on a release date
THQ and Kaos Studios are set to debut the highly anticipated Homefront. This first person shooter gives gamers thea bility to defend North America as it sustains an attack from the none-too-happy North Korea. Originally, the game had been set for a release on March 8th in North America where it would be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and the OnLive streaming game service.
However, it was made known today that THQ and Kaos will be pushing the release date from the 8th to the 15th. No reason was stated for the delay so we’re just going to assume it was a minor problem and nothing to get worked up about.
Hopefully this is the last delay the game will see on its way to market. We’ll leep you posted if anything else comes up.
While the Nintendo Wii has seen countless different FPS titles, The Conduit has largely been considered one of the best. It’s been known for some time that Sega would be working on a sequel appropriately dubbed The Conduit 2 which would be released on March 22nd. Unfortunately, according to Sega, the game will be pushed back from the previously stated March 22nd to April 22nd.
Below the company responds:
“The game is now scheduled for release on April 22, 2011, which allows for [High Voltage] to continue to balance and enhance the game’s multiplayer, one of the key features and focuses during the development of this ambitious sequel.”
Let’s hope that with this delay we see improved gameplay – in that case it won’t be so bad.
Not too long ago we let you know that the PC version of Splinter Cell: Conviction was getting delayed until April 27th. This led many gamers to ponder whether the delay was regarding Ubisoft’s DRM software. Well, according to Ubisoft, no the delay has not at all been related to DRM:
The reason that has been given for the delay is that the extra time was need to polish and debug the game. The slip has not been linked to the DRM.”
Let’s hope that means the DRM will actually work when the game hits.
If you were looking to pick up Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP on May 28th in the UK, you’re going to be disappointed. Konami has recently told CVG that the game is being delayed from May 28th to June 18th.
There’s no telling why the game was delayed or if it North America is looking at the same delay but we’ll let you know.
If you’re in the UK and was hoping to get your hands on BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger on March 26th, you’re going to be discouraged to hear that the game has been delayed until April 2nd. However, everywhere else in Europe will be able to grab the Xbox 360 version of the game on March 26th while the PS3 is still getting delayed to April 2nd.
Luckily, us here have been enjoying the Japanese craziness of BlazBlue since June 30th of last year.
It happens with pretty much every game ever and Splinter Cell: Conviction is no different. Luckily, Ubisoft has only delayed the PC version of the game until April 27th while the Xbox 360 version will still be coming out on April 13th.
Rockstar has just announced that the Episodes from Liberty CityGTA 4 expansions for the PS3 and PC have been delayed by 2 weeks. The reason being “a request by Sony Europe to make some minor changes to the PAL PS3 version of the game”.
Of course, Rockstar assures us that these minor content changes will not affect the content or the gamer in any major way.
Additionally, The Lost & Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony are being delayed to April 13th for the US and April 16th for the rest of the world. Luckily I have an Xbox 360 and have been able to get the DLC long ago.
