Duke Nukem is one of the many classic FPS franchises that eventually went on to define the genre. As you’re sure to know, Duke Nukem Forever recently hit store shelves after being in development for quite some time. While many fans of the franchise were highly anticipating the release unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype and received generally poor reception across the board. Due to all of this bad press chances are you’re probably going to be pretty hesitant to spend $60 for the game if you haven’t already made up your mind.

Luckily, it was just made known today that a Duke Nukem Forever demo has been made available on not only Steam but Xbox Live as well. This will give a wide array of consumers the ability to check out the game before actually diving head first into the purchase. If you check it out let us know what you think of it and if you disagree with the

Now before you watch the recently released trailer for Duke Nukem Forever make note that it focuses entirely on feces. Yes, feces. However, if you’re not offended easily this trailer does a great job showing just how far Gearbox Software is looking to push the boundaries with this game. As you’re sure to know, there is already a group of people petition Walmart to not sell the game so tensions are definitely high as it is.

Of course, all of this controversy doesn’t necessarily mean the game will be great so it’s up to Gearbox Software to equally balance buzz generating controversial content with great gameplay.

Anyways, check out the above video if you dare and let us know what you think. Duke Nukem Forever is expected to be out for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on June 14th.

Whenever a video game developer treads in sketchy waters it’s inevitable that they are going to cause some controversy. If you’ve seen pretty much any information regarding Duke Nukem Forever you’ll know that the game includes material that is definitely some reason for controversy. In fact, it seems that the game has caused so much controversy that a group of people have seen reason to petition Walmart to not sell the game.

The basis of this petition rests on the fact that Duke Nukem Forever is a “sexist” game pointing mainly towards its ‘Capture the Babe’ gametype. Shelby Knox, a petitioner, had this to say:

“In this disturbing version of ‘capture the flag’ the player is tasked with kidnapping a woman from his enemy’s base, throwing her over his shoulder, and carrying her back to his base to share the spoils.”

While I definitely see where Knox is coming from petitioning Walmart to not sell the game is, in my opinion, a bit far. If Knox doesn’t like the game, I’d say the logical step would be to not buy the game herself.

What do you think? Should Duke Nukem Forever be boycotted?

If you’ve been following the Duke Nukem Forever release schedule you’ll know that things have been a bit ridiculous over the years. If you haven’t, just know that the game has been in development for over a decade before development was shifted from 3D Realms to Gearbox Software. Luckily, under Gearbox Software’s lead the game was finally scheduled for release in May before getting delayed, once again, to June.

Well, if you’re one of the folks who hasn’t given up hope on Duke Nukem Forever but still wants something to ease the pain a bit from waiting all of these years Amazon has a deal for you. If you buy the game from Amazon.com they will give you a $10 credit to buy anything shipped and sold from the online mega retailer.

Sure, $10 isn’t much but it’s more than $0, right?

For quite some time it was largely accepted that Duke Nukem Forever would never be released. However, following the closure of 3D Realms the game was picked up by Gearbox Software and slapped with a May release date. This was all fine and well as a ton of promotional material had begun coming out including gameplay videos, teaser trailers, talk of the game’s multiplayer modes and much more.

The funny thing? The game has just been delayed once again. That’s right, Gearbox Software has come forth to let us know that they will be pushing the game’s release date from May to June 10th. Ridiculous? Yes, but let’s hope they don’t delay the game again or gamers who are actually awaiting Duke Nukem Forever may give up hope.

Check out Gearbox Software announce the delay in the above video.

As you’re sure to know Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for, well, ever. Luckily, the game was recently picked up by Gearbox Software who will finally be finishing the game and getting it onto the market come May 3rd for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. While we know a lot about the game there is still much to be known including details regarding its multiplayer portion.

Luckily news has just hit the scene by way of Official Xbox Magazine scans that let us know about the different game modes that will be making their way into Duke Nuke Forever. Included here are Dukematch, Team Dukematch, Capture the Babe and Hail to the King. If you couldn’t tell by their names, Dukematch will be your traditional free for all deathmatch/slayer type game mode while Team Dukematch will be the same thing, but quite obviously on teams. Capture the Babe will be Duke Nukem Forever’s take on Capture the Flag while Hail to the King will be the game’s take on king of the hill.

Pretty comical names that the developers have come up with here which seems like a breath of fresh air in this highly serious market dominated by titles like Call of Duty.

Again, Duke Nukem Forever will be out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on May 3rd.

Despite being in development for over a decade Duke Nukem Forever‘s May 3rd, 2011 release date is finally approaching. While we’ve seen everything from gameplay to the collector’s edition there is still much to be known about the game. While it would be ridiculous to think that the developers will tell us everything prior to the game’s launch, some information has been trickling  out here and there.

The latest of such information focuses on the game’s campaign, more specifically how long it will be. Gearbox‘s own Randy Pitchford came forth during an interview with GTTV to let us know that it will be between 16 and 18 hours.

This is a decent amount of play time and will surely give Duke Nukem fans hours of fun. Now we just need some information on the multiplayer and we’ll be all set and, you know, a demo wouldn’t hurt.

Gearbox has announced that their upcoming Borderlands Game of The Year edition will not only include lots of DLC, but it’ll have something else as well: early access to the Duke Nukem Forever demo. The GOTY edition will come with a code to download the demo prior to anyone else, however, it’s not mentioned exactly when that’ll happen.

After 3D Realms was shut down, Gearbox head Randy Pitchford started talking to the guys, and Gearbox’ good relationship with Take Two, they ended up acquiring the Duke IP. They took over the development of Duke Nukem Forever, which was showcased as a playable demo at PAX last weekend. The game is scheduled for release next year, at which point it will have been in development some 14 years.
