Lionhead Studios’ Fable franchise is one of the most innovative RPG franchises on the market. Currently on its 3rd iterations, appropriately titled Fable III, the series has been met with positive reception time and time again.

Well, now that Fable III has been on the market for a bit it’s no surprise that some add-ons straight from Lionhead Studios are already available. The latest of such add-ons was just announced today and is dubbed ‘Traitor’s Keep’. Included in this add-on are the new areas Godwin Estate, Clockwork Island and Ravenscar Keep. New adventures are to be found within this area including a “mysterious prisoner”.

Also included in this announcement was the fact that the PC version of Fable III will be out on May 17th while the ‘Traitor’s Keep’ DLC pack will hit the Xbox 360 on March 1st.

If you thought you’d be getting the full game on the disc with Fable III, boy were you wrong. Peter Molyneux has recently said that while the disc will contain “the big episodes” players will be able to download additional episodes in the future.

Now I’m all for advances in technology and what not but remember back in the day when game developers would just give maps and other content away for free in the form of updates? Sounds crazy now a days, doesn’t it?

Well folks, it’s now 2010 and you know what that means, Project Natal will soon be on store shelves. I don’t know about you guys, but one of the games I’m looking forward to most that is said to feature compatibility with the technology is Fable III. Thus far, we haven’t seen anything of the game but that may all change soon enough.

According to Lion Head’s Sam Van Tilburgh, we will be seeing the first footage of the game next month during a currently unannounced event.

If you hadn’t figured it out yet, there will be a Fable III. Between Peter Molyneux’s fervent love of the series as expressed in every interview along the way, the financial success of a game that almost always guarantees a sequel and the less-than-subtle hint in the downloadable content pack ‘see the future’ you should be aware that Fable III is going to get made.

If you STILL need more proof you’ll just have to check out the New York Times. Skip the business section. No, it’s not under science and technology either. The arts? Nope. It’s under the “weddings/celebrations” section. Joshua Atkins, a Lionhead employee is getting hitched Sunday in San Francisco, presumably so he can then sacrifice his wife at the temple of shadows (kidding). In the announcement it lists Atkins as “ the lead game designer for Fable III, a video game series produced by Lionhead Studios in Guildford, England.”

Whether or not it’s a misprint, you should take it as confirmation that Fable III will happen. It’s inevitable.
