According to sales trackers in the UK, the latest edition of FIFA, FIFA 10, has moved over 2.2 million units in the UK, far more than in the US, where the game has yet to brake one million in sales. The 2.2 million in sales make it the best selling FIFA game so far, according to MCV.

Modern Warfare 2 has been on shelves for quite some time now and has been selling like hot cakes ever since. Here we are 7 weeks later and still Infinity Ward’s latest title is topping the charts in the UK.

Trailing Modern Warfare 2 is none other than FIFA 10, followed by Assassin’s Creed 2, Wii Sports Resort, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, Wii Fit Plus and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

How long will Modern Warfare 2 hold the top spot? Which title will be the one to knock if off its thrown? Only time will tell.

Modern Warfare 2 made its way onto store shelves just under a month ago but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still selling like hotcakes. In fact, despite seeing a 7% drop in sales from the prior week, Activision’s Modern Warfare 2 is still the number one selling game in the UK, a spot it has held since its release nearly 4 weeks .

This means that the game has outsold hit titles such as FIFA 10 and Assassin’s Creed 2 but with the holidays just around the corner, will that all change?

fifa10logoWhen you think of the fastest selling sports game what is the first title you think of? Madden? Wrong. FIFA 10? Correct, according to EA that is.

The mega publisher has announced today that the latest addition to the FIFA franchise has sold 1.7 million copies in Europe during its first week alone effectively making it the fastest selling sports game of all time.

Peter Moore, EA Sports prez, comments:

“We were confident that FIFA 10 would be a hit, and this week fans across Europe have shown just how much they love this game. We are incredibly proud of FIFA 10 and this kick-off for great, authentic football competition.”

EA Sports
has recently announced that the FIFA 10 demo will be made available over Xbox Live, the Playstation Network and for the PC on November 17th.

European gamers, on the other hand, will be getting the demo on September 10th, one week prior to us Americans.

If, however, you don’t want to get your hands on the game before you physically get your hands on the game, you’re going to have to wait until it hits store shelves for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 20th.

When the first Project Natal promotional video hit the scene it featured a clip where two people were playing a soccer game using the technology’s motion-sensing. At that point, it was just a vision but now it seems it may be closer to reality.

When asked if motion-sensing would be incorporated into EA’s FIFA 11, the series’ producer said that it is possible. On the flip side, David Rutter, exec over at EA, was quoted to have said that no, the technology won’t be incorporated. So, which one is it?

Don’t get this confused with the soon-to-be-released FIFA 10 as that title has been confirmed to not utilize either Project Natal or the Playstation Motion Controller.

FIFA 10 will be out for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii, among others, on October 2nd, 2009.
