Square Enix has previously stated that a remake of FF VII would not be possible, but now, CEO Yoichi Wada appears to think otherwise. He said that the company is “going to explore the possibility” of remaking Final Fantasy VII — which is just one step below actually confirming that the remake is in development. We’ll find out soon.
Sony has announced that Final Fantasy VII has been downloaded over 100,000 times on the PlayStation Network since its release during E3.
Final Fantasy VII, was released almost ten years ago, and is widely considered as the best Final Fantasy game to date.
Other classic PSOne titles are headed for the PlayStation Network as well, including Wild Arms 2, Mobile Light Force and Special Ops: Stealth Patrol. Sony also revealed that the PSN now has over 25 million registered users, who have downloaded over 500 million pieces of content.

A new listing from the ESRB website reveals the arrival of Final Fantasy VII on both the PSP and PS3 systems. The game hit Japanese and Chinese PS3s earlier this year, and those versions were simply the same game we got for the PSOne back in 1997. So in case you’re hoping for a remake, this might not be your day.
No word on when the game will actually be released.
