BF3Blog reports that the upcoming and highly anticipated multiplayer shooter Battlefield 3 won’t support the aging Windows XP, because the new engine, Frostbite 2.0, only supports Direct X 10 and 11. As you know, Win XP only support Direct X 9.

EA and DICE have announced Battlefield Play4Free, which is a realistic looking Battlefield Heroes: a play for free Battlefield game build on the FrostBite engine. The game will be released in January and will feature remakes of popular BF2 maps like Strike at Karkand. Did we mention it’ll be free to play? Of course, there’s gonna be in-game purchases and what not. A beta is scheduled for November 31. Via BadCompany2Blog.com.
EA and DICE have announced the release date of the upcoming Battlefield 1943. The game, which goes back to its Battlefield roots in World War 2, will be released this June as a download on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, and will be priced at $15 (1200 MS points for the Xbox 360). Unfortunately for PC gamers, they’ll have to wait until September for the game.
Battlefield 1943, powered by the new Frostbite engine, will feature three of the most popular maps from Battlefield 1942, including the famous Wake Island.
