Got some time to spare and bored with all of your games? Well then do the best next thing: watch a movie about games. We just noticed that SnagFilms has gotten their hands on a documentary called GAMERS.

Below is a synopsis of the movie:

“GAMERS is a documentary film that follows filmmaker Ben Gonyo into the world of MMO style video games and the World of Warcraft. Having not played video games for nearly ten years, a lot of things have changed since Ben last picked up a controller. Ben dives headfirst into a whole new genre of video games called MMORPG’s, which he describes as, ‘living in a movie.’ In this humorous yet informative documentary, viewers will learn what these games are, where they came from, how they’re made and what it takes to conquer a virtual world.”

I’ve yet to check it out but definitely will be doing so later tonight as SnagFilms offers the video completely free of charge. Want to check it out yourself? Head here and let the streaming begin: http://www.snagfilms.com/films/title/gamers/.

The face of warfare is changing from the complex yet generally straightforward tactics employed during conflicts like World War 2. The wealthy nations of the world are dealing with resourceful enemies who don’t wear uniforms and utilize tactics like suicide bombings. In response the wealthy nations are seeking ways to defend themselves without putting lives at risk.

One threat naval forces have had to deal with is boats loaded with explosives being rammed into their ships while in ports. The US Military is purchasing several hundred Mini-Typhoon 12.7mm remote controlled machine guns which will be mounted in place of manned machine guns. They can be operated from anywhere on the ship and reportedly they say that anyone with video game experience can be quickly shown how to use them. This, along with the British RAF revealing that they were finding experienced gamers were effective at piloting remote combat drones hints at a new direction for technological warfare; not a soldier in peak physical condition and bearing the newest and most advanced combat gear, but electronic soldiers controlled at a safe distance.

With all the hype about Guitar Hero and Rock Band, it was just a matter of time before another controller in the form of a musical instrument (in this case another guitar) would come out. And Logitech will not allow itself to be outdone as it unveiled its Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller for PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation 2 computer entertainment systems.

Following the introduction of the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller, Premiere Edition (previously available only in select markets), the new black guitar controller is expected to be available worldwide later this month. This looks like a push for eco-friendly games but it is obviously not the actual intent. Mama steps out of the kitchen and into the great outdoors to work her magic as Majesco Entertainment Company today announced that Gardening Mama for Nintendo DS has shipped to retail stores nationwide.

Developed by Cooking Mama Limited, the team that created the award-winning Cooking Mama franchise that has sold 3.7 million units domestically, Gardening Mama stars the iconic culinary cutie in the first ever gardening game and the first brand offshoot for the series.

“Gardening is a perfect fit for the Mama brand and we believe the legions of Cooking Mama fans will love Mama’s new green thumb,” said Jesse Sutton, Chief Executive Officer, Majesco. “Gardening Mama includes the same accessible gameplay mechanic as the Cooking Mama series but layers in an entirely new subject matter that all ages and genders will appreciate.”

Gardening Mama transforms the stylus into a universal gardening tool that players will use to plant, nurture and harvest 37 different varieties of flowers, fruits and vegetables. Gamers can manage their garden through the seeding, blooming and maturation phases, and then produce items from the plants they’ve grown.

A robust multiplayer mode lets up to four friends compete to grow the biggest harvest and Treasure Box mode lets players share items they’ve grown with online friends. In addition, players can change Mama’s outfit to their liking while customizing the screen design to their preference.

A partnership that is aiming to push the new batch of Albatron Nvidia VGA cards is in the works. For gamers who purchase this new graphics card, free playtime for EVE Online will be rewarded to the new Albatron Nvidia VGA graphics card owner.

“There is nothing that comes close to EVE Online as far galactic-interstellar MMORPGs. It is a futuristic adventure like nothing you’ve seen before, rife with both action and strategy. It will be bundled with most Albatron NVIDIA VGA cards allowing you to download the entire game in minutes. Take a look at the awesome trailers on the DVD, try the game and you’ll be hooked.”

The game will be available with the Albatron cards going all the way back to the 9400GT series. Added to this, gamers will get a free month of play for EVE, totaling $14.95 worth of gameplay. I suppose that’s not that bad a deal. Just seems like EVE coming with a new video card is a slightly underwhelming reason for purchasing a video card.

After a record-breaking sale of 48 million global consoles last year, Nintendo has been encountering problems to satisfy demand recently. In fact, it is only now that they are able to satisfy the demand, a factor that may have become critical for its underachieving status since a lot of buyers cannot find the game console in certain areas.

According to an interview with Gamasutra, GameStop has said they finally have enough Nintendo Wii supply to keep up with demand.

GameStop Senior Vice President of Merchandising Bob McKenzie added: “Three years later, we finally have enough inventory on the shelf, and we’ve got a couple of weeks in supply.”

McKenzie also says he is fully confident gamers can walk in and purchase the console without any lines, in any retail location. The company is the largest gaming retailer in the biggest market, the US.

If you are an avid follower of Street Fighter, here is your chance to come up with a great art work that can be entered into this competition hosted by Don’t Panic in preparation for the upcoming Street Fighter IV game.

All those artsy-fartsy types might look down on gamers when they can’t tell the difference between cubism and symmetrical art designs, but those artsy-fartsy folk couldn’t tell a Whirlwind Kick from a Hurricane Kick. That’s right, gamers get the chance to play connoisseur for some new SFIV art.

The design competition features artists from all over and actually lets gamers vote and comment on the artist’s work. There are prizes to be won and artwork to be bought. The interpretive pieces will also be accompanied by fan-work, which also happen to be available on the site. This means that gamers get to see how Ryu would look if he were actually drawn/painted to look Japanese, or get a full up-skirt view of Sakura’s rear-end.
