Sony’s God of War III has just been released to store shelves and to hype us up one more time before we all dive into the game they have released the above trailer.

The trailer is entitled Chaos and features the game’s main main Kratos looking all sorts of badass. But what are you waiting for? Go get the game!

It looks like God of War III‘s launch is shaping up to be massive — Reports have just surfaced that say pre-orders for the game have hit 485,000 this week. This beats out pre-order numbers for games such as Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII and even Uncharted 2.

VGChartz estimates that the game could sell as much as 750,000 in North America in its first week but that remains to be seen. God of War III will be out on March 16th, 2010.

Sony has just announced that they plan to release ModNation Racers on May 25th for both the PSP and PS3. And, just like everyone else, they will be having some pre-order incentives dependent on where you place your order.

If you pre-order from GameStop you’ll be given Kratos from God of War III, Amazon you’ll get either Ratchet or Clank and Best Buy pre-orderers will be given Uncharted‘s Nathan Drake in his iconic jungle jeep.

For me? I think i’ll opt with Kratos. GameStop, here I come!

If you’ll recall, late last month we gave you a look at the top 10 most expensive video game budgets of all time. Well, it seems that God of War 3 would have come in at a close 11th place according ot recent reports.

Director of production development, John Hight has said that God of War III cost the studio $44 million to develop. This may seem like a lot but according to Hight it was “right within budget”. He then went on to tell us that the work was done by 132 staffers, up from about 60 that worked on the previous title.

Since God of War III‘s March 16th release date is just around the corner we’ll have to wait and see if sales will top the budget.

Sony is looking to do something with God of War III that they haven’t with the previous titles: first person kills. In the latest episode of GameTrailers TV, Adam Puhl went on record as saying that you’ll be put, literally, right in the middle of the action when some of the most gruesome kills go down.

Just imagine, ripping someones head off in first person. Sounds great, right?

Those hoping that God of War III will see no delays before its March 16th release can now rest easy, some what. Thanks to Christer Ericson’s Twitter, who just so happens to be Director of Technology over at Sony Santa Monica, we now know that the game has gone gold and is entering the manufacturing stage.

Of course, some unforeseen error like the destruction of the manufacturing facility could give us a delay, but that’s doesn’t seem very likely.

If you want to get your hands on the God of War III demo, you now have another way of doing so. Of course, you’re going to have to buy the District 9 Blu-ray as it was bundled with that but who cares, it’s a kickass movie.

Alternatively you cold purchase the God of War Collection and get a code for a PSN demo download, but what fun is that?

God of War III will be out exclusively for the PS3 sometime in March of 2010.
