There are many different racing franchises on the market but Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo has long been considered one of the most realistic and visisually pleasing. Currently on its 5th iteration, the latest title has not failed to impress with beautiful visuals, a whole slew of cars for gamers to choose from and enough venues to keep them busy for quite some time.

However, seeing how the game is so realistic and includes endurance races, gamers are finding themselves glued to the television for hours at a time. But, this isn’t the problem, the problem is the fact that there is no way to save your progress while in an endurance race. Luckily, Polyphony’s Kazunori Yamauchi has come forth to say that the studio is in fact working on the feature. Below is an excerpt from his Tweet:

Game saves during endurances. They are currently under development.

Once implemented, this will give gamers the ability to finish races that may take several hours by spreading them out over a longer period of time. We’ll let you know when it goes live.

Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo franchise has been regarded by many as the go-to racing simulator. However, with the release of Gran Turismo 5, many have wondered if the series has fallen from grace only to be surpassed by new comers like Forza and Need for Speed. Regardless of this chatter, Polyphony is pushing forward with their game and have today released a 600MB patch bringing the game to 1.05.

While an official change log has yet to be released, reports suggest that the update brings with tit the ability to turn off the HUD midrace, reduce the grip in wet tracks and turn on mechanical damage in offline practice mode.

Doesn’t sound very exciting but it’s nice to see the game mature even after its launch.

Here we go again. Again. After five years in development and $60+ million dollars, Gran Turismo 5 was supposed to be on the Japanese store shelves this March. It’s now May and the game is still far from release, and sources tell us that it has been bumped to Fall 2010, most likely September, with the international release coming in November.

The game is reportedly “90% complete”, with the the 140+ development team now working around the clock to add 3D to the game.

Apparently it was Sony that ordered 3D to be added to the game, as the company is pushing 3D as one of the main features of the PS3 in the future. However, we weren’t able to confirm whether Sony or developer Polyphony Digital decided that 3D was worth the wait. Furthermore, while the regular “2D” mode will be in 1080p, the 3D mode will be in 1080i at 30 frames per second.

Sony has only confirmed that it would be released in 2010, and has yet to set a formal release date. This is expected at E3.

Thanks to Hiroshi for the tip!

If you’ve been dying to see what the PSP versions of Gran Turismo and LittleBigPlanet will look like, your’e in luck. What you see above is a video demonstration of Gran Turismo being played on a PSP Go.

The video was reportedly taken at Fase Extra where attendees got a chance to place both LittleBigPlanet and Gran Turismo.

From the brief glimpse the videos provide, these games look to have none-too-bad graphics and stay true to their console counterparts. On a side note, the PSP Go looks a bit awkward to hold, don’t you think?

Video of LittleBigPlanet included after the break.

It was recently made known that Polyphony Digital, developer of the popular Gran Turismo franchise, has officially opened the first Gran Turismo Café in Japan.

Featured in the café is food, obviously, but other than that there are three “play booths” featuring Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. There’s no pictures of the actual establishment so all we have to go by is the above sketch.

Good food and a few races of Gran Turismo? Let’s hope these things come Stateside.
