Guild Wars 2‘s release date is still a ways off but if you’re looking to get your fix, there are other ways coming soon. It was recently announced that a novel based in the Guild Wars is being written and will be released soon.
The title is called Ghosts of Ascalon and is being penned by Jeff Grubb and Matt Forbeck and will prepare gamers for the second title. It’s set hundreds of years after the original Guild Wars in the same era as Guild Wars 2.
Ghosts of Ascalon will be released on European and North American shores sometime this summer.
What you see above is the latest Guild Wars 2 trailer released by NCsoft called Uncertain Allies. While the game does a great job showing off the title’s beautiful scenery, it also gives us a glimpse of the various races that are to be featured in said title. Do they look ridiculously awesome? Of course, but check it out yourself.
Guild Wars 2 is expected to hit shore shelves for the PC at some point within the next 2 years.
While many Guild Wars fans have been dreaming of a sequel next year, it appears they’ll have to dream on, into 2011, because NCsoft revealed that it has no plans of any major releases in 2010, having just released the highly anticipated MMO Aion a few months ago. However, lucky Koreans will have a chance to play the Guild Wars 2 beta sometime next year, probably late-2010.
Those anticipating the release of Guild Wars 2, are in for some bad news. Apparently, during an investor finance briefing, NCsoft was quoted to have said that Guild Wars 2 won’t be out until 2010-2011. Bummer.
Joystiq notes that although the developer had to cut some staff and won’t be showing up at E3 this year, their game Aion sold remarkably well in Korea which leads us to believe that financial woes did not cause this delay.
