If you one to still play Guitar Hero 5 obsessively, you probably already know that this weekend was supposed to see the release of some Black Sabbath songs. Well, if you were pumped for these songs you’re about to be let down as Activision has just updated the Guitar Hero Facebook page as saying that the DLC won’t be coming out this weekend.

They then went on to say that they hope to have the content available at a later date. Does this mean there is a chance we won’t be seeing these new Black Sabbath songs at all? Let’s hope not.

What’s better than a bunch of Playboy Playmates gallivanting around while playing Guitar Hero? Well, the making of the commercial featuring said gallivanting, of course.

What you see above is a 7-minute video showcasing the hard work that went into making the latest Guitar Hero 5 ad. Sorry boys, no nudity here.

Activison’s Guitar Hero 5 will be out for the PS3, PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii on September 1st.

Activision has recently released the above advertisement for their forthcoming multiplatform title, Guitar Hero 5. Just like their previous slew of advertisements this one features Guitar Hero being played in nothing more than button downs and socks. However, Activision has replaced Michael Phelps and Tony Hawk with Playboy Playmates and Hugh Hefner.

Need I say more?

A few days ago we were shown the updated guitar controller that would be bundled with Guitar Hero 5 and today Activision shows us yet another peripheral, the drums.

There’s not much to say about this set besides the fact that it’s, well, a drum controller. Although, it will apparantly allow for use with 2 kick pedals if you’re into that kind of thing.

Guitar Hero 5 will be made available for the Playstation 3, Playstation 2, Xbox 360 and Wii on September 1st, 2009.

You didn’t think Activision would let Guitar Hero 5 hit the market without including a new guitar controller, did you? Good because what you see above is just that, the Guitar Hero 5 bundle you’ll see hit store shelves on September 1st.

Other than the red  , this controller reportedly uses an updated touch pad that will use digital input as opposed to analog found on the previous gen controllers.

There’s no word if this guitar will be made available as a stand alone product or exclusive to the Guitar Hero 5 bundles. Either or, do we really need another guitar controller? I mean, was there anything wrong with the other 50 on the market?

It seems that our friends over at Joystiq have taken the time to thumb through every Guitar Hero 5 announcement thus far and compile a master list of tracks that will be featured in the game.

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll have already seen all of these tracks in bits and peices over the last couple of months. However, the end of the list also lets us know that musicians such as Kurt Cobain and Johnny Cash will be featured as characters in the game.

Guitar Hero 5 will be out for PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii on September 1st of this year.

Full track list after the break.

It looks like Modern Warfare 2 isn’t the only game Glu will be developing for mobile handses as it was recently announced that the studio will also get their hands on Blur, Guitar Hero 5, and Tony Hawk: Ride.

There are absolutely no details regarding gameplay for any of these games but we do know that they will be released this year for Blackberry, Android, Windows Mobile, and Java-based handsets.

Anyone excited? I still don’t understand why they aren’t releasing these games for the iPhone.

The traditional unveiling of a game’s box art always happens when the community has stopped buzzing about a game. It does make sense, publishers want more hype etc. But anyways — Activision is proud to show off the box art for their upcoming Guitar Hero 5.

So yeah, check out the box art above and prepare for its September 1st release date on the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii.

Any bets on how long Activision will continue the Guitar Hero franchise until the community grows tired? I have my money on at least Guitar Hero 15.
