Half Life protagonist Gordon Freeman carried a wide array of weapons, from the trusty crowbar, to rocket launchers, grenades, and what not. While most modern shooters today let you have only a few weapons, usually two main guns and a sidearm, older titles like Half Life let the player keep all weapons he finds throughout the game, hence the image of the real Gordon Freeman. We’d love to see how the real Duke Nukem looks like.

Valve has released updates for Half Life 2, adding to the now 5 year old game Steam Cloud for save games, achievements and improved graphics that were available in Episodes One and Two. Oh, and Half Life 2 is now available on the mac as well.

Today is an unfortunate day for the Half-Life universe as Robert Culp, the voice actor of Dr. Wallace Breen has passed away. Mr. Culp was aged 79 when he took a spill on pavement in Los Angeles that took his life.
If you’re not familiar with Dr. Wallace Breen, he’s the boss of the Black Mesa Research Facility who’s face appeared all over City 17 in Half-Life 2.
Everyone here at DigitalBattle extends the best wishes to Robert Culp’s family.

A tipster sent us what appears to be art work for the upcoming Half Life 2 Episode 3, however, we can’t confirm it at this point (we’re still investigating, we’ll update this page accordingly). Click the image for full view.
Update: We can now confirm that this is not the official art work for the game, rather, it’s concept art from Pene Menn, a Korean artist.

On this day, five years ago, one of the most critically acclaimed games was released: the sequel to Half Life, Half Life 2. The game was originally delayed for a year or so, after the source code was leaked and much of the game had to be rewritten. Since then, we’ve seen two expansions and a ton of mods. Half Life 2: Episode 3 is slated for release in 2010, with Half Life 3 coming in late 2012. Coolvibe has a great collection of early Half Life 2 concept art, worth checking out.

It seems that Valve really wants people to own The Orange Box, having recently announced that they are selling the whole bundle for just $9.99.
Valve breaks down the pricing for us; bought individually Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Epiode 2, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Portal and Team Fortress 2 would run you $84.95.
The savings? $74.96.

Freeman fans will want to kill Valve developers after they read this post: Half-Life 2: Episode Three isn’t expected to arrive for a whole… most probably 2010.
This comes from Valve marketing VP Doug Lombardi: “The next time you play as Gordon will be longer than the distance between Half-Life 2 to Episode One, and Episode One to Episode Two."
Episode One was released in June 2006, with Two following in October 2007. Half-Life 2 was released back in 2004.
Lombardi does offer one consolation, noting that the company might announce or show something by the end of the year.

After “50 hours of modeling, cutting, glueing, and assembling” the 12-inch tall papercraft Half-life 2 Dog replica you see above, came to be.
There isn’t much more information regarding this little master peice considering it’s a 4chan posting, but judging by the intricacy and pure detail put into this, this guy isn’t messing around. All I want to know now is, where can I get one?
