If you’re any sort of self respecting gamer you’ve undoubtedly heard of Blizzard. This game company is one of the most successful currently on the market with titles like World of Warcraft and StarCraft 2 gaining positive reception across the board. However, the outfit also has another title coming to market (hopefully this year) that has been generating a ton of buzz dubbed Diablo 3.
While Diablo and 2 have been PC games, there have been some rumors that Diablo 3 would be making the jump to consoles. While Blizzard has yet to speak of the matter, they have just posted a job listing seeking potential candidates for a Diablo title that have a background in console development. Below is said listing:
Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a highly organized individual with outstanding communications and project management skills for the Diablo team. The ideal candidate has prior experience in console game development and has a keen knowledge of how each discipline operates and interacts. Self-direction and follow-up skills are a must, as well as the ability to anticipate production issues and find effective solutions. The candidate must be fully committed to seeing projects through from inception to completion, and delivering games on time with the highest quality.
Of course, this doesn’t official confirm that Diablo 3 will be coming to consoles it would make a bit of sense considering it would allow Blizzard to reach a whole new audience with their game.

You may remember that earlier this year Crystal Dynamics, the guys behind the Tomb Raider franchise, had to lay off around 30 employees due to Tomb Raider: Underworld selling less copies than expected. Well, it seems that the studio is only now looking for a helping hand but this time for developers who have the ability “to create and lead the multiplayer vision and design effort” of a AAA title.
Of course, the listing doesn’t actually state that its for a new Tomb Raider game but considering that is all that has come from Crystal Dynamics for the past several years, it’s probably safe to say we will be seeing a multiplayer enabled Tomb Raider from the studio at some point in the future.

It only seems normal to find Microsoft hiring new game programmers but apparently the intent of it is what makes it really interesting. Thanks to a job listing, speculations are running in the air that Microsoft is set to unveil a new massive multiplayer online game as well as a new successor for the Xbox 360.
“Microsoft Games Studios is looking for experienced game developers to work on next generation Xbox platform titles and Windows games.” Specifically, Microsoft Game Studios is looking for: “an experienced server developer to help develop our server architecture. We are building an extremely high performance system to extend console games to the server in new ways; creating a completely new set of web services to support dynamic programming information of games and scheduling data.” And that’s not all, Microsoft is currently “building a backend capable of hosting a 300,000 player game in real-time with real money on the line (anti-cheating, etc).”
So with that in mind, you have to wonder what is in store for the many followers of the Xbox 360 and of course addicted MMO players. If the rumor and speculations are indeed true, you can bet that everyone will keep an eye out for new developments. Microsoft is no lemon when it comes to new products or services and surely this tidbits are something worth watching out for.
