There are many different video games available on the market as you’re sure to know but not many feature the ability to play between different platforms such as PS3 – PC and the like. Of course, there are some games that do this such as DC Universe which is available for both the PS3 and PC. Sony is looking to continue this trend recently announcing that they will be bringing their MMORPG Free Realms to the PS3 on March 29th.

Instead of focusing on combat alone, Free Realms allows players to gain experience and the like by exploring, building, raising pets, playing mini-games and, of course, social networking. For the die hard MMORPG fan who plays games like World of Warcraft this may not be the most appealing tile on the market but if you’re looking to get into MMOs this seems to be a perfect starter title. That, and you can play on the PC with your buddy on the PS3 – as mentioned above.

Well now, with the popularity of games set in modern day like Modern Warfare 2 and the forthcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2, EA and DICE have decided to reboot the MoH franchise with a similar setting.

Well, with the announcement that Dead Space 2 and the next Dragon Age are set for a 2011 launch, EA has said that Medal of Honor will be launching in Q2 of 2011.

We don’t know much about the game other than the fact that it will be set in Afghanistan and, of course, be an FPS.

It’s no secret that Activision is looking to make a huge impression with their highly anticipated FPS Modern Warfare 2 but just how big, you ask?

Well, it seems that the mega-publisher has contracted advertising firm TBWA with the task of making Modern Warfare 2 the “biggest entertainment launch of all time”. This means that Activision is looking to put Halo 3′s first day sales of 1.7 million copies and GTA IV‘s first day sales of 3.6 million copies to shame.

Do you think Modern Warfare 2 will live up to the hype? Given Call of Duty 4‘s success there is a good chance that it will. Not to mention the fact that it’s shipping on just about every major console (including the PC0 there is.

I guess we’ll have to wait until the game’s November 10th release date to pass judgement.

MIcrosoft is gearing up for a big push when they release Project Natal, their own motion-sensing offering. Minor peripherals or controller upgrades aren’t usually big affairs, but this is the Xbox’s foray into a new direction, what many say might be the next evolution of video games. Many alternate control peripherals fail due to inadequate support. You pick up the game that came with it, play it til you’re tired of it and then hunt through the shelves for something else to use with it, only to find there isn’t anything else. Sales of the peripheral slump and developers don’t even bother consider creating games for the device.

That’s why Microsoft isn’t planning on releasing the new controller until they think its ready and has a good lineup of launch titles to get people using it. They’ve got Rare working on games for the device, though fans are concerned given some of the unimpressive 360 launch titles the developer put out in the past.

Microsoft claims they’re not going after the casual gaming market or any other existing market segment with the Natal. They’re aiming to get people who still aren’t gaming into the mix, claiming that for many the controller is a barrier which they hope to eliminate by making all the controls dependent upon simple body motion. At this point it seems unlikely that they’ll get too many more people involved. There’s still a big portion of the populace who consider video games and anti-social waste of time.
