Zork__Grue_by_Zubby Jolt Online Gaming has launched its free-to-play casual web-based RPG Legends of Zork. The game is inspired by the classic adventure series, putting players in the role of an unemployed salesman as they explore and fight their way through the fallen Great Underground Empire.

Interestingly, players can earn coconuts in the game by spending actual money or participating in a variety of marketing trials and surveys for other sites. These coconuts can be used to acquire more action points and other special perks.

Those who don’t will have to make do with the daily allocation of 30 points.

Zork__Legends_of_Zork_by_ZubbyPublisher Jolt sent out word clarifying that the forthcoming web-based resurrection of Legends of Zork is not an MMO.

"LoZ is a casual adventure game," Jolt CEO Dylan Collins wrote in a recent newsletter.  "We’ve designed it to be the kind of game that sneaks into your soul and steals about 20mins of your time each day. It’s not an MMO (collective sigh of relief, I’d imagine)."

The original announcement carried the following statement: "designed to provide gamers with a casual MMO game they can play on their laptop, desktop or Apple iPhone."

Collins promised that actual details will be revealed soon.
