LittleBigPlanet has quickly become one of the Playstation 3′s killer titles. However, with the forthcoming release of LittleBigPlanet 2, Media Molecule hopes to again push the boundaries and provide gamers with a new and innovative experience.

One of the biggest improvements in LittleBigPlanet 2 is found within the game’s editing system. Media Molecule has revamped and improved the entire system giving players more control over their creations than ever before. Don’t believe me? Just check out the above video of a Wolfenstein 3D recreation within the LittleBigPlanet 2 beta. Yes, that’s right, utilizing in game tools the creators of this level have actually managed to morph the game’s entire gameplay into something new.

Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet 2 is set to hit store shelves on January 18th, 2011. It’s going to be interesting to see what innovative gamers manage to come up with when the game is actually released.

Ever since LittleBigPlanet first hit store shelves back in October of 2008 it has pretty much become the face of the PS3. Sack boy, the game’s main character, is often used in advertisements for the PS3 console because he’s just so damn cute. In fact, the developers, Media Molecule, were contracted exclusively by Sony to produce only for their consoles.

Well, that contract seems to be getting tightened just a bit as it was announced today that Sony has acquired Media Molecule. President of SCE Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, comments on the acquisition:

“SCE WWS is all about creating ambitious, innovative and ground breaking games, traits that Media Molecule clearly have. To bring them into our family proves our dedication to creating fantastic new experiences that we believe will cement our position as industry leaders.”

Now let’s hope we see some more kick ass titles come from Media Molecule.

Have you ever wanted to add a bit of water to your LittleBigPlanet creations? Well you will soon have the chance as Sony has recently let us know that an add-on that will add the ability to add water should be released before the end of this year.

The add-on was first discovered when a list of Trophies were added that hinted as levels containing water which had CVG question Sony above it’s arrival to which they replied:

“We’re expecting it to launch just before Xmas.”

In addition to water, you will be getting a bunch of Pirates of the Caribbean content.

The first we heard of a LittleBigPlanet PSP title was all the way back in February when it was announced alongside MotorStorm. At the time it was only said to be hitting store shelves sometime this year.

However, Sony has today announced that the PSP title will be hitting store shelves in North America on November 17th, 2009.

Sony hasn’t said much regarding the contents of the game but they have said that it will feature a massive DLC library, something that made the PS3 LittleBigPlanet title very popular.

Media Molecule
is proud to announce that 1 million user-created LittleBigPlanet levels have hit the Playstation Network. As a side note, those 1 million levels have been played a full 244 million times.

This reportedly means that 1 level has been uploaded every 21 seconds since LBP‘s October 27th, 2008 streetdate, quite the amazing feat.

Finally, they also said to check the Playstation Blog around August 18th for a new LittleBigPlanet announcement. What could it be?

If you’ve been dying to see what the PSP versions of Gran Turismo and LittleBigPlanet will look like, your’e in luck. What you see above is a video demonstration of Gran Turismo being played on a PSP Go.

The video was reportedly taken at Fase Extra where attendees got a chance to place both LittleBigPlanet and Gran Turismo.

From the brief glimpse the videos provide, these games look to have none-too-bad graphics and stay true to their console counterparts. On a side note, the PSP Go looks a bit awkward to hold, don’t you think?

We have been hinted at a Ghostbusters DLC pack coming to LittleBigPlanet for some time now with the Japanese LittleBigPlanet website confirming the fact. However, we didn’t know when the pack would hit the States or at what price.

Well today, SCEA has let us know that the Ghostbusters LittleBigPlanet DLC pack will be coming to the States this Thursday priced at $1.99 for individual costumers or $5.99 for all 4 along with some bonus stickers.

As you can see above, the pack will feature the Puft Marshmallow Man, Slimer, a costume rendition of the Ghostbusters logo and of course the Ghostbusters themselves. But wait, there’s only one? What about the other three?

It seems that the Japanese LittleBigPlanet site has jumped the gun and showcased the upcoming Ghostbusters DLC pack for the game.

Fans of the Ghostbusters franchise will recognize that the DLC pack will include the Puft Marshmallow Man, all 4 ghostbusters, and Slimer, making for what is gearing up to be my favorite LittleBigPlanet pack to date.

Unfortunately, us American gamers have been effectively left in the dust with no official unveiling yet. Come on Sony, get on that!
