Following word that Obama and Palin are coming to Mercenaries 2 as playable characters, EA publishing COO John Peasants expressed hope in the franchise, revealed that “there will be a Mercenaries 3, and if I can have anything to do with it, there will be a Mercenaries 10.”
The sequel, which was not so well-received by the critics as the original, has sold 1.9 million copies since it hit stores. The franchise joins the growing list of titles that will get sequels, including Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge.
Peasants also expressed his belief in the Spore franchise, promising that both expansion packs and business models are coming for the evolution simulator.
Yes, your dreams have come true, you can finally run around as Sarah Palin shooting rocket launchers at, who else, Barack Obama.
Thanks to new DLC that is soon to be added to Mercenaries 2, both Barack Obama and Sarah Palin will be playable characters in the game. But why no McCain? Probably due to the fact that Palin is an avid moose hunter and member of the NRA, not to mention that McCain is 72 years old.
While we have seen the likeliness of Obama and McCain in Saints Row 2, trailer included after the break, they were only classified as Democrats and Republicans. Mercenaries 2 actually includes their names, you are actually playing as them. Any guesses on how much press this is going to net Mercenaries 2?

Giving even more reason to cause destruction, mayhem and hijack tanks, Pandemic’s Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is set to receive a free update later this month, followed by paid downloadable content sometime next month.
The October update, dubbed “Total Payback”, will add cheat codes to the game. This will let you unlock all weapons, vehicles and airstrikes in the game, as well as get infinite ammo and health. It will also add six new playable characters and remove region restrictions from co-operative play.
Xbox Live users can download it starting October 13; PSN users will have to wait another week to be able to download it.
No details on the premium DLC were given, other than a November release window.
This time around, the Mercenaries will be dropping bombs on dictators and rogue generals on your PC, and for that you will need a pretty good pimped up computer to run the game.
Set for release on August 31 on PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360, and the PC on September 4, you will need at least a Pentium 4 processor with a minimum GeForce 6800 class card and at least 10GB of hard drive space. You’ll need a dual core and GeForce 8-level graphics card to properly enjoy the game.
