Seriously, what is it with fan-made short films of popular genre that makes them all aspire to look the same, with the same editing, same color grading, heck, even the actors look the same. The Black Mesa short film is out, and while it’s not our cup of tea, we have to admit the visual effects a pretty well done.

If you’re a Halo fan you’ll undoubtedly already know that there has been talks about a movie based on the franchise for some time. The film actually entered production but was later sacked due to improper funding. Ever since then it’s been rumor after rumor with no official word on the movie’s current state.

Well, during a conference Microsoft’s Frank O’Connor has said that they will be a Halo movie “when the time is right” and that the own the IP so if/when they want to make the movie they can. He then went on to say that a movie would increase the Halo fan numbers even more.

Just make the damn thing already, we’ve been waiting forever.

Bungie has recently hopped on Twitter to show us the above picture and tweet the following message:

Just got this mysterious image and word that something big is dropping this week?!

That’s all we have to go by, the image and the tweet. What could it possibly mean?

Well, to me it looks like we are about to hear an announcement regarding the Halo movie

It’s not uncommon for Hollywood films to get videogame adaptations these days, but those projects are mainly concerned with big-budget blockbusters. According to a press release from indie developer Madrack Games, they’re looking into developing small, indie titles based on some older film properties, and some newer ones as well — including short films.

The LA-based developer revealed that their first projects include an adaptation of Buster Keaton’s The General (1927), and a smaller game based on an upcoming short film called Final Tuesday, which deals with the end of the world and asteroids. Madrack Games didn’t mention any release dates, but they promised some concept art this Summer. In the mean time, enjoy the teaser poster of Final Tuesday above.

Video game movies have been good, and bad. One bad video game movie adaptation that immediately comes to mind is the Doom movie. I thought it was cool but most movie critics didn’t agree with me. Well, the latest speculated to be coming to the big screen is Space Invaders. Yes, Space Invaders.

The L.A. Times says that the Space Invaders movie is to be a “big-budget action-blockbuster” with producers such as Json Blum, Guymon Casady and Mark Gordon.

I just wonder, what the hell is the movie going to be like? Are they going to have a whole alien driven plot? They must considering it would be damn ridiculous to sit and watch some 8-bit space crafts descend on some 8-bit establishment.

Considering just about every major video game franchise has either been turned into a movie, or tried to turn into a movie, it’s no surprise that Grand Theft Auto too is no different. However, you may be wondering why exactly haven’t we seen a movie based on the franchise? Well, if you’ve been around a while you’ll know that there is a movie from 1977 that is also named Grand Theft Auto, directed by Ron Howard.

Rights problems with Mr. Howard, including disagreements regarding the plot of the movie, made the project fall through. Although, that doesn’t mean we’ll never see a movie based on the franchise as some movie studio in need of money is sure to rekindle the project.

Out of all of the video game movies that have been rumored to come out, one of the one that seems the most likely to actually make it to the big screen is the one based on World of Warcraft.

When the movie was first conceived it was listed as just Warcraft however, a recent update to the title’s IMDB listing let us know that it will officially be called Warcraft: The Rise of the Lich King. This leads us to believe that either they scrapped the original idea and went for a more Lich King approach or just had this story from the beginning.

Either or, you’re sure to be hearing more about this movie as its release date grows closer, whenever that may be.

If recent rumors are to be believed we may be seeing an inFamous movie at some point in the future. Rerpots suggest that Sheldon Turner, the man behind The Longest Yard remake and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning has been hard at work writing up a screenplay to pitch to Sony.

If all goes well, further reports suggest that Avi Arad and Ari Arad, those behind the Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune movie, will be the main producers of the film.

The same guy behind the Spider-Man trilogy has been announced to be the director for the Warcraft movie. Sam Raimi is also responsible for such works as “The Evil Dead” and “Drag Me To Hell.”

Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures will be working together for the film. So, maybe it won’t be so bad if Blizzard has most of the creative control.

“Sam’s passion for ‘Warcraft’ is undeniable and we know that he will create an incredible film worthy of Blizzard’s phenomenal franchise,” said Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull.

“From our first conversation with Sam, we could tell he was the perfect choice,”” added Paul Sams, chief operating officer of Blizzard Entertainment. “Sam knows how to simultaneously satisfy the enthusiasts and the mainstream audience that might be experiencing that content for the first time.”

There’s a lot of Warcraft lore out there, beginning from the debut of the scourge up to the return of the Lich King. And who can forget all of the novels that spawned along the way? Details are scarce right now, as the movie is still in production. Hopefully more information will pop up in this year’s Comic-Con.
