A few days ago Namco Bandai surprised many with its very edgy and possibly NSFW Soul Calibur V promotional poster. They got plenty of attention, and tried the trick once more, with another edgy render of one of the in-game characters. But it appears that they took it too far this time. The poster, which you can see above, was published on their Facebook page, and apparently it was so offensive that many folks complained. And Namco took it down.
UPDATE: there are some reports that suggest the ad might not be of Namco’s making, as it’s taken of a render from Soul Calibur 4. We still don’t know who the original creator is, and why the image appeared on Namco’s Facebook page.
Publisher Namco Bandai just revealed the poster/ad for the upcoming Soul Calibur V. As you can see, the poster is edgy, to say the least. We’re not sure if it’ll even be allowed in the US or Europe. But you can’t blame Namco Bandai for just cutting straight to the point: Soul Calibur is mainly about women with over sized breasts fighting each other.
When I was a bit younger, Dragon Ball Z and the entire Dragon Ball franchise in general was a hit. Sure, its popularity has died down a bit but that hasn’t stopped a whole slew of games based on said franchise from coming out. The latest of such games is Dragon Ball: Origins 2 for the Nintendo DS which we have included a trailer for you above.
Now, I have absolutely no idea what is going on in the trailer but the loud Japanese screaming mixed with some slick looking gameplay shots makes the game look like a sure win.
If you’re looking to pick Dragon Ball: Origins 2 up, expect it on store shelves sometime this summer.
Retro gamers (who happen to own an iPhone/iPod touch) rejoice! Namco Bandai has just let us know that Pac-Man Championship Edition has just been put up on the App Store for $2.99.
Included in Pac-Man Championship Edition is a timed Championship Mode with 5 coures (10 more available through DLC) and a Mission Mode with 20 missions (100 more through DLC). I don’t even need to say anything about the gameplay as if you don’t know what Pac-Man is like, you probably aren’t even reading this.
If you’re looking to pick this up you better do so fast as the $2.99 price point is just an introductory sale.
Publisher/developer Namco Bandai has posted some rather dim results for the first half of 2009.
The company lost $66 million, while it posted a profit of $14 million during the same period last year, so it’s quite a decline, mostly attributed to lack of decent titles during the period. The company still expects sales to reach $94 million this year, fueled by Tekken 6, of which 2.5 million copies have already been shipped.
If you didn’t know, Tekken 6 made its way onto store shelves shelves on October 27th in North America and October 30th in Europe. But already Namco Bandai is announcing that they have shipped 2.5 million copies of the game.
Of course, this doesn’t exactly showcase the game’s success as these numbers focus on units shipped, not units actually sold. We’ll have to wait until the title has been available for at least a week before we see those numbers.
Anyone planning on picking up Tekken 6 if you haven’t done so already?
Namco Bandai has today let us know that the video game based on Clash of the Titans is in fact going to make its way onto North American shelves.
Exactly when, we aren’t sure but the developer has said that sometime in spring of next year the title will be made available for purchase for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Namco Bandai hypes up the game a bit by saying they, “promise an unprecedented experience for video game and movie fans alike.”
Namco Bandai has announced today that their ball-rolling puzzle game Katamari Forever will be seeing a North American localization and will make its debut on September 22nd.
The game features a total of 30 levels, some new and some are ports from older games.
No official release for Europe is planned, although it’s expected to be released in September. The game was released in Japan back in July for the PlayStation 3.
Namco Bandai Games has announced that Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 5 will be localized and brought to the United States. The original game, titled Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Accel 2, was released back in winter 2007 in Japan for the PlayStation 2. However, the plot of the manga and television series in the Western hemisphere are way behind the much recent Japanese releases.
The story of the game will go up to the end of the Sasuke rescue arc. Sixty playable characters and twenty-four maps will be featured in the game. For any fans who have issues with the English dub, a Japanese audio will be included. The game is currently under localization by CyberConnect 2.
In Europe, Ghostbusters: The Video Gameused to have an exclusivity contract for only Sony platforms. Today, we get release dates for the long awaited multiplatform release of the game.
Namco Bandai Partners has confirmed that Ghostbusters will be released for the Xbox 360, PC, Wii and Nintendo DS on October 23rd.
If you want a good idea of how the game will be, be sure to check out our review of the US version of the game.
