The upcoming arcade NBA Jam will bring the classic 3 on 3 action we’ve known, but missed since the 90s, later this year. EA sports has unveiled the roster of the Eastern Conference NBA teams, which include not only current players, but legends as well. For instance, the Celtics have Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen, but also legends Larry Bird and Kevin McHale. Check out the full roster of all teams after the break. READ ON »
If you weren’t already excited enough for NBA Jam perhaps the fact that both Larry Bird and Magic Johnson will be featured in the game. According to Joystiq players will play through a team ladder with the final match being against Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.
What’s a bummer to me is that when the game drops in Fall of this year it will only be for the Wii. I would have loved to see an NBA Jam Xbox Live Arcade title or something similar.
Way back in the beginning of January EA officially confirmed that they would be rebooting the NBA Jam franchise. However, up until now we hadn’t heard much about the game. Luckily, EA has just released the game’s first debut trailer giving us a pretty in-depth look at the gameplay.
NBA Jam will be out for the Wii sometime this fall.
EA has confirmed rumors about the revival of NBA Jam, once a hallmark series when it came to arcade sports action. According to EA, a development team at EA Canada is working on the game, which is scheduled for release later this year.
An official website is also open, where fans can vote on the three players that will be featured in the game from each team.
Do you remember NBA Jam? The basketball title that made its debut on consoles like the SNES and had a pretty good run until Midway dropped it back in 2004? Well, fans of the series will be happy to hear that we may be looking at a possible reboot of the series but this time in the hands of EA.
News comes to us from ESPN who says EA Sports has secured the rights to the NBA Jam franchise from Midway and will be tasking their Vancouver development studio with a new title. Unfortunately, if ESPN is correct, we will only be seeing it on the Wii as it’s apparently an exclusive title. Bummer.
Alternatively, other sources are hinting at a possible XBLA and PSN title. All hope may not be lost.
