One of the finer Wii titles to be released during the last few months (according to our review, at least), No More Heroes 2, has reportedly not done well at the game stores. According to EEDAR, which tracks game sales, the title sold less than 30,000 units during its first week, and this is despite generally favorable and positive reviews, and despite so many Wii consoles out there. This is true to other mature Wii games as well, like MadWorld and Dead Space, both great games, but simply didn’t sell well.

In the world of No More Heroes, set a futuristic society centered around bloody assassin games, we follow the main protagonist, Travis Touchdown, if you remember in the first game, fought his way to the top of the leaderboards and became the top assassin. However, we’re in a sequel now, and when Travis’ best friend is murdered as a retaliation for what Travis did, he gets back in the ring of the assassin’s, and once again, fights his way through hordes of assassin’s, slicing them up and killing them in every way possible.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, follows the same core principle of the first game, and why shouldn’t it — No More Heroes was one of the finest and most original Wii games to date. And also one of the bloodiest and most violent ones, a feat that the sequel gladly continues. No More Heroes 2 doesn’t just manage to improve what the previous game didn’t do well, it also manages to be one of the most entertaining Wii games in years. Read the rest of the review

cover.php Excited for No More Heroes 2? Well, you will have to wait a while longer, as the game is now officially dated for a January 2010 release in North America.

The game’s publisher – Marvelous – revealed this in the game’s TGS press materials, though it was not noted until now. Oddly, no Japanese release date was given.

No More Heroes 2 is being designed by Goichi Suda and will remain exclusive to the Wii.

No-More-Heroes-1 The first details of No More Heroes 2 had been revealed after a teaser trailer was dropped at the Tokyo Game Show last week. But more details come courtesy of designer Goichi Suda in an interview to Eurogamer.

"I wanted to make a lot more stuff, more detail. So this time in No More Heroes 2, I want to take my revenge," he revealed. "And actually, the theme of No More Heroes 2 is revenge, so…"

He explained that the sequel comes due to the commercial success of the original. Suda added that it is time for the game to “become serious” but that it “won’t be too serious.”

Suda also talked about how the game could have jumped ship to Xbox 360, but did not due to the Wii-mote.

"One of the really good points of this game was the way we used the remote control. … If we took the Wii out of the equation, we’d have lost that, so the answer was that we had to make it on the Wii," he explained.

The sequel is due out sometime next year exclusively on Wii.
