Minecraft has been getting a steady stream of updates from its developer, Mojang Specifications, ever since it secured its place as one of the most popular indie titles of all time. If you’ve played the game you’ll know that despite being full of features there is still quite a ways to go. For example, the game doesn’t really have a beginning or an end right now instead it’s very open ended tasking players with mining materials and building whatever they want. Luckily, the game’s original developer Notch has told us that the game will be getting a lot more depth in the near future with a series of updates – one being Adventures.

Not much is known exactly what Notch means about ‘Adventures’ but it is assumed that a sort of questing system complete with non playable characters will be added. Unfortunately, Notch has taken to his blog today to let us know that the version 1.8 update, which includes Adventures, will not be out for quite some time. On a more positive note, he did let us know that he is planning to release Minecraft version 1.7 this Thursday.

What’s to be included in this update, you ask? Well according to Notch the update will contain nothing more than pistons and some bug fixes but something is better than nothing, right?

In fact, the most recent release, Call of Duty: Black Ops, has managed to top the charts for quite some time even going on to be the best selling PS3 game of all time – a very noteworthy feat. Currently, Black Ops is available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC – as pretty much every other FPS on the market.

While console gamers have been enjoying their early access to map packs and the like, everyone knows that the real way to experience an FPS is on the PC. Luckily, Activision and Treyarch are not neglecting the PC version of Black Ops at all. The entire Killzone franchise has done quite well for itself despite remaining exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation 3. The latest game, Killzone 3, in particular has managed to become one of the best looking games ever to be released for a home video game console. However, just because the game has received some critical acclaim since it was released does not mean it’s perfect. In fact, those who play Killzone 3 online will know that despite being on the market for quite some time it has not yet received the ability to support custom multiplayer games.

Luckily, Guerilla Games has just come forth today to let us know that they will be releasing a brand new patch for the game at some tomorrow (April 5th) bringing with it custom games. Of course, that’s not all that’s being included in the past as a whole slew of bug fixes, PlayStation Move tweaks and more will also be brought to the game.

Check out the full list of updates courtesy of the game’s official website after the break.

Crytek’s Crysis 2 is expected top be one of the biggest shooters of the year continuing where the original title left off as one of the most graphically advanced games we’ve ever seen. However, Crytek will be making the leap from the PC to the PS3 and Xbox 360 as well. While the game isn’t set to hit store shelves until March 22nd for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, there has been a demo released for the PC and Xbox 360 with the PS3 version coming on the 15th.

There has been some mixed reviews on the Crysis 2 demo but PC gamers in particular have had some gripes with the demo.  Luckily, Crytek has just released a patch that addresses many of the user gripes found in the PC demo. First of all, “Press Start” has been replaced with “Press Enter”, everyone starts with zero ping, numbers are now supported in user names, support for G35 headsets has been added and a few other things.

Head here for more information.

There’s nothing worse than logging onto your favorite game looking to grab some frags only to find out that it’s online multiplayer has been overrun by hackers. It seems that no matter what game studios do to ban these hackers they just keep coming back. The latest of such incidences focuses on the PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 where hackers have saturated the game’s multiplayer component effectively ruining it for everyone else in the process.

Luckily, it was just announced today that there will be a forthcoming patch that addresses the issues and, hopefully, will curb online hacking considerably. Word comes to us straight from Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling who’s tweet you can see above.

So folks come March 8th lets hope that the online hacking will be no more.

Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo franchise has been regarded by many as the go-to racing simulator. However, with the release of Gran Turismo 5, many have wondered if the series has fallen from grace only to be surpassed by new comers like Forza and Need for Speed. Regardless of this chatter, Polyphony is pushing forward with their game and have today released a 600MB patch bringing the game to 1.05.

While an official change log has yet to be released, reports suggest that the update brings with tit the ability to turn off the HUD midrace, reduce the grip in wet tracks and turn on mechanical damage in offline practice mode.

Doesn’t sound very exciting but it’s nice to see the game mature even after its launch.
