While many gamers are still flocking to their local retailers to get down on the latest titles, digital distribution outlets are becoming quite popular. On the PC, the most popular digital distribution service is none other than Valve’s Steam. The beauty of services like this is that it’s so easy for developers to cut us gamers a deal on some of their hottest titles. In fact, it seems that just about every week Valve is temporarily dropping the price tag of some of the hottest games. This week seems to be no different.

The reason I say this is because it was just made known that for a limited time both BioShock and BioShock 2 are priced at just $4.99 a piece. Unfortunately it seems that the deal is today only so if you’re considering doing it, I’d suggest doing it now. I mean, it’s only $10 for both of them, right?

THQ and Kaos Studios recently came forth on March 15th to release Homefront. If you’re not aware this first person shooter pits gamers against a North Korean invasion of the United States. Of course, seeing how the premise is a bit of a sensitive one, controversy has been brought to the from but the general consensus is that the game is pretty good. If you’re one who is looking to get down on the game but dont’ want to spend  the full $60 – you’re in luck.

It was made known today that both Amazon.com and Walmart will be offering the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of THQ’s Homefront for just $42. We’re not exactly sure how long they will be offering the game at this price for so if you’re looking to get down on it you better do so fast.

I’m sure you, much like me, are a video game addict. While fulfilling this craving with the latest titles is a very satisfying one, it can also be quite expensive. First you’ve got the $200+ console, then the $50+ games and then, if you’re looking to get fancy you’ve got the motion control peripherals like the PlayStation Move and Xbox 360 Kinect which will both run you a pretty penny. Luckily, some online retailers like Amazon.com have been known to cut us gamers a deal and today seems to be no different.

Amazon.com has just announced today that  they will be giving those who purchase a PlayStation 3 video game console from them before March 12th will receive a $50 Amazon gift certificate. While some may prefer cold hard cash, Amazon sells virtually everything (including video games, quite obviously) so you shouldn’t have a hard time finding something to spend that 50 bucks on.

Check out the listing here.

While there are many different video game genres on the market the first person shooter genre is one of the most popular. As yuo’re sure to know, games like Call of Duty and Halo have largely dominated this sector for some time. Luckily, there are many other fully capable competitors on the market such as Epic Games’ recently released Bulletstorm.

The game has created some controversy for including suggestive material which may turn off parents, but to us gamers the name of the game is the more controversy the better. controversy If you’ve  seen virtually any marketing material for Bulletstorm you’ll probably know that the makers are touting the fact that it’s not a Call of Duty game pretty highly even going so far as to release a parody title dubbed Duty Calls.

Anyways, if you haven’t yet gotten down on Bulletstorm and want to do so make note that Amazon has just dropped the price tag of the game down to $40 for today only. Get on it!

We’ve all seen these refer-a-friend deals where you get a friend to sign up for something and receive some sort of bonus but we’ve never seen it offered through Xbox Live. However, reports have just surfaced that say Microsoft has launched the system which will offer gamers free Microsoft Points and Xbox Live Gold access (among other things) for enticing their buddies to join up under their name. 5 friends per day is the limit which could potentially net you quite a bit of loot.

Below is a list of incentives and the like, courtesy of Joystiq:

  • Get your free member friend to go Gold and (1) you and your friend will each get 400 Microsoft Points or (2) 600 Microsoft Points, depending on the active offer.
  • Get your free member friend to go Gold and (3) you and your friend will get a multiplayer Xbox Live Arcade game of Microsoft’s choosing.
  • Get your free member friend to try Gold with a promotional token good for 1 month of Gold, and (4) if your friend redeems the token within 30 days, you’ll get 200 Microsoft Points.

If you’re looking to get down on this you better do so (somewhat) fast as our sources tell us it will only last until July 1st, 2011.
