Sony has revealed some new PS3 details at GDC, announcing that the console has sold 41 million units world wide. In addition, more than 80 percent of consoles are connected to the Internet. Sony also revealed that PlayStation Store revenue has increased by 70 percent last year.

Sony introduced a new, slim PS3 in 2009, with more storage at a lower price, and sales quickly picked up. There have been rumors of further PS3 price cuts this year, but nothing substantiated.

Sony has announced that worldwide PS3 sales have crossed the 30 million mark, after selling a good 6.5 million units of the PS3 slim in Q3 of last year. In comparison, the Wii has sold over 60 million units worldwide, while the Xbox 360 is second with 40 million.
