If you’ve been paying attention to pretty much anything you’ll probably have heard of Antoine Dodson. This average person turned Internet superstar was caught voicing his opinion of a criminal who broke into his house and attempted to harass his sister. Soon after the serious situation was turned into a sarcastic one when his news interview was remixed into the hit song ‘Bed Intruder’.
Well here we are nearly a year later and the hype has somewhat died down but it seems that it’s about to get a jump start. According to recent reports, ‘Bed Intruder’ will be making its way to the Rock Band Network sometime in the near future. Unfortunately this has yet to be confirmed by anyone official involved with the song but a video has hit YouTube of ‘Bed Intruder’ being played through with Rock Band 3.
Fans of the Rock Band series will be happy to hear that Harmonix has just launched the Rock Band Network Store. This network store will launch with over 100 songs from artists such as Of Montreal, Steve Vai and much more. MTV has actually told us that there are over 300 more artists who will be added to the store in intervals in the near future.
Harmonix is proud to announce that later this year they will be launching for the Xbox 360 (PS3 and Wii support at a later date) what they are calling the Rock Band Network. If you’re familiar with Apple’s App Store, this is the same kind of thing.
The Rock Band Network will allow users to upload and price their own tracks which can then be downloaded by anyone with the game. Users are said to be able to price the tracks between 50 cents and $3 while getting 30% of the track sales.
This is great news for up and coming artists looking to reach a wider audience. But the question remains, will the Rock Band Network catch on like similar services or will it be met with lackluster interest? Only time will tell.
